Grundig MS201 radio - no code :(

Featured Replies

I imagine not, but is there any way to recover / circumvent the code on a Grundig Felicia radio? I picked one up in a scrapyard to replace my girlfriend's but didn't realise it would be locked.

I also have one from a car boot sale working in my Felicia without a code, and am worried that if it ever locks, I'll have no way to unlock it. Odd that it worked without asking for a code despite having been disconnected for a long time. I know the point of the code is that it's only printed on the card you get with the radio to prevent theft, but since no-one's ever going to steal one nowadays you'd hope that if there was a way to do this, it would have been revealed by now.

Also, how many attempts do you get before the radio's locked forever?

It's probably cheaper and less hassle to get a new head unit from Halfords.......unless you've still got a pile of cassettes you want to play ;)

I may try posting on the forum in the first link - I'd already found that by googling but hadn't tried it.

The "code calculator" linked to in the bottom link is malware. One of the middle links doesn't list my radio and the other doesn't recognise my serial number.

Thanks for trying!

Mine has the Blaupunkt radio with the security card that you slot in the front. It could be worth looking for that in a scrapper as I'd suppose that as long as the card was in it it would be ok. (Cassette has packed up on mine, think it's thrown a belt.)

The "code calculator" linked to in the bottom link is malware.

On that page you have more than one Grundig code calculator. NEW GRUNDIG CALCULATOR.ZIP from 09-03-2004 (529 kB) is OK. I am hoping you know the difference between a malware alert and a false positive alert. If you don't, you have to consider you bought a brick labeled Grundig. It's up to you.

Ok, I'll try running it in a virtual machine and see what it does so I can undo any changes if it misbehaves. I'll let you know what happens...
