Water leaking onto overhead lights just above/behind windscreen...help!

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2009 Superb. In the last week I have noticed drops of water coming in from the lights on the roof at the rearview mirror. I took down the entire surround and could feel wet on the roof. I can only assume its coming in from the windscreen as there is no sunroof, aerial etc on the roof and no damage that I can see. However, even if the car is parked on the flat, this water still seems to come in. Its by no means a flood, just a few drops, but leaves me concerned that it will destroy the electrics and eventually 'eat' more and more out of the car. I have contacted a windscreen company to re-seal and re-fit the screen, but was wondering if there was anything else I should do or look for?

Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Have you had it from new and always known the car, or could it have had a replacement windscreen already?

No matter,

Sounds like you have done what needs doing, getting the windscreen resealed.

Just wondering if water is getting in at the back where the Ariel is and traveling along the cable to the front

More to the point, do you have a sunroof, panoramic roof, as said has the car had a new windscreen, try sticking some temp bluetak along the screen on the outside, if the leak stops it's the sealant bonder and you will need to use some mastic if the repair isn't covered, that or smash the screen and claim it was a stone hit it.

I love the name http://www.captaintolley.com/ Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Sealer! I've used it successfully on a Discovery II and a Scimitar GTE, both of which leaked like sieves.
