coilpack upgrades

Featured Replies

Anyone upgraded their coilpacks on their octy fancy doing mine as im slowly increasing power as funds allow and want some better coilpacks, leads, plugs and injectors, any suggestions

plenty have fitted the 2.0t coilpacks, they allow for a better spark, but its not like you are gonna see more speed just by doing this, as long as yours are working fine, with decent sparks then spend your money on actual go faster items, if you want to go faster.

+1

Dont forget handling mods as well

Ive had it mapped exaust filter the usual stuff but im saving for bigger turbo manifold etc as i want this taken off the road to get things fitted and new map

Make sure that your coil pack wiring is sound, they are prone to crack due to the heat from the manifold but you can strip them apart and wrap with electrical tape to stop any shorting.

Then make sure you have good plugs gapped accordingly. Then if you decide to upgrade your coil packs just skip straight to the mk6 2.0T ones as they allow you to increase the gap generating a better spark which means a better burn.

Update:

Had my first 2.0T mk6 coil fail the other day, I did buy them 2nd hand as they were such a good price at the time so not sure what miles they had done.

thought people were posting these are uber reliable, and didn't fail.

whats the point of upgrading if they fail all the same..might as well fit new standard ones..

Tbh i swapped because the red look funky on the solver spacers lol

lol

I bet that came as no surprise aye :D

1st failure I've heard of but not a good sign lol

Bak to leads and a coil lol

I'll blame my adaptors lmao :D

In all fairness it is running an increased gap with a colder plug running on LPG at an increased boost level with a nut behind the wheel. :D not sure what miles they have done thought.

Edit: new plugs are here, are skoda still doing the replacement coils?
