Stage 2 progress

Featured Replies

Over the past couple of months I have been preparing my car for stage 2.

Currently I am running stage 1 and the last time it was rolled I had 201bhp/235ftlb with a boost issue. At the time, the guys at Jabba, Portsmouth suspected it was the n75. Since I changed that the boost issues it had before did fade away. Now we are on the road to where I need to be.

So far:

Decat with milltek exhaust } Thanks to OET for these!

Allard FMIC }

Compbrake dumpvalve

SFS large bore TIP (in the post)

Last thing I need is the air filter. Still debating over an uprated panel or just a new paper one.

Today the Allard went in:

I like the Allard boost pipe design. Very neat.

Yeah, it seems pretty nice. straight through and no messing. I loved how clean it is behind the turbo. So easy to get to now!

Very neat design, with regard to air filters id stock with std paper one with cold air feed(which it looks like you have) good luck :)

glad you got it sorted dude, just make sure there is no chance the boost pipe can move and rub against the font panel edge where you cut the panel, file it smooth or fit some sort of protective lip over it if poss.

Nice progress, I'm liking how the inter cooler hose runs straight through the slam panel. If you don't mind me asking, how much was the inter cooler set up?

I paid a nice price to OET for it ;) but I gave them a call and they told me that's a custom built model to fit the 1.8t. I could only imagine it would be £500+ new.

Cheers. As you can see, took a bit more cutting than expected. Currently not as quick as it was before (least thats how it feels) but the map will sort that. Don't worry, robbie was on the case with that one haha.

nice one, bet you cant wait for the mapping now!!

I like it.

You've got a serious amount of pipework going on that side of the engine (especially with the catch can) but it looks really tidy and nice to have something unusual like that too.

wow thats cool never seen that one before :hi: probably just used to stage 1 soon be used to stage 2 and that will feel slow :giggle:

I only really noticed this when I recently drove a few other peoples cars, you really do get used to it and forget what a normal 100hp ish car is like.

slight Issue: The flange where the MAP sensor bolts on, on one side the thread has gone so it wont tighten down. What would be the best way of fixing this? Could I just put sealant over it?

Drill it out and maybe fit a different screw/nut?

By the way buddy nice fit and good to see different pipework than the normal after market FMIC pipework going over the engine. I like pleasant and un cluttered looking bays and that one will soon come up sweet.

Would sealant not be a good idea? Just I don't have much time to take the bumper off again and drill the pipe.

I like it, makes the engine so much cleaner at the rear! Just need to do the SAI and N valves and then it will be a lot cleaner!

cheers :). To double check, am I ok putting the DV that way round?

Can't you get at the pipe without removing bumper?

Yep putting DV that way is ok but to me they sound like a dying cat that way round...

Very easy to remove the water bottle just a couple of plastic nuts hold that in.

Look what just turned up!

Does anyone know what jubilee clips I will need for it?

Also, the age old debate... paper filter or performance? especially with this large bore tip?

Let us know how the TIP fitting goes, i'd like to upgrade but an ordinary silicone replacement was a bitch to fit, let alone a supersize one!

Are you running Airbox, or CAI? I've got a CAI with Honda S2000 paper filter on the end, works well.

Why was it a bitch?

I am running the standard box with a better air feed atm.
