French Yetis

Featured Replies

Driving back from Provence over the last three days (fetching my Pug 207cc for its annual trip to the UK to give the engine a workout) I was struck by the suddenly increased numbers of Yetis I saw on the autoroutes. Still out numbered by Dastardly Dusters, but the fightback is definitely on!

i see a good few every day usually ranging from 6-12

So that's where they all are! I've just got back from 6 days in Paris and was on the road for 4 to 5 hours a day - I never saw a single Yeti! The first one I saw was inthe queue for the Channel Tunnel and it had a UK number plate.

My Yeti is yet to get a company on the roads here in Abu Dhabi. Dusters are dusting at times with Tucsons tusking all over with Pajeros,Prados and the rest looking at Yeti with their mean looks :-(

Hi Subbu,

Im in Dubai...so not quite the same place...but thinking of buying a Yeti from Ali & Sons in Abu Dhabi. Apparently the Dubai Showroom is relocating so they have kind of gone awol...

Wanted to get your opinion on how the yeti handles the beautiful weather of the UAE - especially in the summer!

Anyhow, if you are free to chat please get in touch.

cheers

The 'dastardly Dusters' seem to be breeding like rabbits down here in the sunny south! :o

That's funny I'm in southampton and there is probably 20-30 yetis in the local area I have noticed they are becoming common as dog pooh.

And I have never had the displeasure of seeing a Dacia duster unfortunately there are plenty of oversized squashqais around hate them with a passion.

The Dust(er) storm is huge here - 20 dusters a day v 1 Yeti a week spotted here! The locals think they are being patriotic as buying a Dacia is really buying a Renault n'est pas? Until I got my Yeti most of my French friends had never even heard of them! Time will change all that.....

Looks like a friend will be coming out to Abu Dhabi for 2 years to help set up the signalling system on the new railway.

He was thinking about buying a car, and likes my Yeti, but they have been advised that they will be provided with a driver, due to the manner in which the locals drive!!

I'm sure the only reason people buy Dacia's is because they are cheap and they probably cannot afford a Yeti or other cross overs. I may be wrong but when you see the Dacia adverts the price is the first thing that comes to mind

^^ no, they can afford it - lots of cash floating about here - they just don't know what to buy; never see a frenchman with a car mag doing RnD on the next purchase, sportscar types aside.

German and Belgian's awash here(obviously old f*rts hols), only seen 1 other locally regd machine, a member of staff at my local Builders Merchant!

Where I was, most "official" ie police, gendames and the like, were driving around in Dusters. After years of having to make do with Renault 4's and a brief flurry of slightly more svelt motors, Hollande's austerity seems to be narrowing the choice to the very bottom of the price barrel.

Could Dacia's relationship with Renault have anything to do with it?...
