VRS Fault Code - P2015

Featured Replies

The engine management light came on in my car (TSI VRS) over the weekend so took it in to my local dealership today. They found fault code P2015, and say they think it "requires intake manifold and injection valve gaskets" - they've asked for confirmation from Skoda technical bods before they do any work, just to make sure they are correct. £65 to diagnose :/

The car is only just over 3 years old (2010 plate)/27K miles and the impression I got was that this would be quite a big job. Has anyone else had this? Dreading a big bill, though they've said they will try and put in a claim with Skoda seeing as it's just outside warranty and low mileage.

Yeah my 2010 car had this a couple of times - its a known issue on the TSI engine, the mk6 gti's have this issue too.

"Manifold Flap Position Sensor: Implausible Signal"

Problem is the flap /motor in the intake that gets sticky/gunked up over time - the dealer can run some sort of "re-set" procedure which will clear it but only temporarily.

Mine showed this code three (?) times before i suggested that the re-set did not appear to be a long term solution - unfortunately they can't clean or replace the flap or motor independently so the only solution is a new intake manifold - luckily i got mine in just before the warranty expired so it cost me zero.

I'd expect that you'd get some goodwill contribution from Skoda provided you've got a full dealer history - personally i'd push for 100% ;)

Thanks. Yes, I have full dealer history and will def push for 100%. Already had to pay £65 just to get it looked at, which the dealer said if that is the problem, then I would have to raise that with Skoda to see about getting that money back.

Have to say I'm not impressed - shouldn't be having this problem after only 3 years IMHO. Hey ho!

I've had the intake manifold off on my 57 plate TFSI vRS - this was so I could give it a dam good clean along with the back of the valves which were well choked with gooey oil deposits after 105,000 miles. Took me about 3 hours to get it off and 3 to put it back on in freezing conditions. It's not particularly difficult, just fiddly and lots of things to remove ( the fuel rail is integral with the manifold which means depressurising it - which will through up lots of fault codes which will need clearing).

Otherwise it sounds like the dealer is not interested. If your not bound by a warranty I suggest you find a good local specialist.

Dealership couldn't find a problem and were going round in circles with Skoda Technical of what to check next so in the end gave me the car back to see how it goes. 2 days later now, the light has come back on. Similar scenario as before in that the light comes on (and stays on) when starting the engine, not randomly when driving around.

Not a happy camper at all.
