Need some help re: insurance

Featured Replies

Hello fellow Briskodians,

Need an insurance company recommending for my 2012 Octavia Blackline, quotes I've been getting off comparison sites and certian other sites haven't been to my liking.

I'm 28 in September, ain't a boy racer and am just looking for something sub £400 ish.

Quotes I've been getting range from £475-£800 in some cases.

I've tried comparison sites and they just don't seem to be the best value.

I've also heard that comparison sites only account for about 10% of the actual insurance companies out there.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried any of the site sponsors? As a Freedom member you will get a discount.

And you are right, comparison sites are just a proportion of the market place for insurance. There are plenty of small, specialist insurers out there as well as better know companies, but you have to do the ground work and search them out ;)

We'll happily offer you a quote kiran111. As it's a vRS you'll need to have at least 12 months experience of the car or one of similar performance.

Hi there,

I had a pre FL petrol vRS before this one which I bought in 2010, so I have experience with them.

Well I dont think those are bad prices.

I was looking at a VRS a couple of years ago and the cheapest I could get was around the 480 mark.

Im 44 and full NCB and at the time a clean licence.

they all come out when they sniff money  get as may quotes from as many as you can, comparison sites aren't always the cheapest. Remember, THEY want YOUR money. Haggle haggle haggle. Try to get some breakdown cover thrown in if you can. Remember, you're the customer and they want your money. Don't give it to them on a whim.

One thing I'd suggest you take into consideration is the prospective insurers performance in settling claims. As you blackline is under 12 months old at the moment you need to make sure that if the worst happens it'll get repaired properly.

you should try and join the real world ,that's less than what my insurance is ,,im 47 with full protected no claims ,,no points and two cctv cameras on my house .I wish I could get my insurance for under £500.

I just reinsured my slightly modded Fabia last week. It was with Adrian Flux but I wasn't gonna renew with them after the way they messed me about with my other car a few months ago and I knew they would give a rediculous quote. I'm 29, 9yrs no claims, no convictions, Mrs on the policy who has a fult claim in the last 5 years and they wanted £800. Phoned around a few places, including the sponsers on here, but eventually settled with Brentacre who quoted me £470. Pleased with that and they sent all the paperwork through straight away.
