Lifting jack points?

Featured Replies

Bit embarassing really.. I'm not really this inept but all ive done so far is open up the bonnet, without any kind of haynes type manual i'm a bit stuck of how to do things.

So where do i jack up the car on each side? There doesnt seem to be anywhere obvious, its pretty black underneath so dont know whats solid and whats not.

A quick glance in your owners manual should give you a pretty good idea of where is safe to use.

Do Not use the rear axle beam!!!

if your using the car's own jack.... there are arrows marking where to jack on the edge of the underside.

.. and to save the traditional follow up thread, yes the sills are as soft as a freshly laid cow pat. :)

I would reccomend making sure you don't knock the car while its on the Jack

and it doesn't seem very stable

luckily i Had my steel spare under the car

If one was to use a trolley jack , where are the safe front and rear points .

I'm being an idiot... why can't you use the axel beam?

At the front, the holder for the rear wishbone mount is pretty strong. And it sits nicely in the cup of a trolley-jack.

Whatever you do, DO NOT use the sills, and make sure you get some axel-stands in there if you plan to venture underneath the car

I put my trolley jack in the same place as the Skoda jack fits, but with a piece of plywood to spread the load. Then an axle stand under the suspension as belt-and-braces.
