Very easy job, you will need either a 12 or 13mm spanner and a Wind back tool, other than that jack it up and remove wheel

Yeah pads-only should be very straight forward, you only enter a world of pain and suffering when you have to do the discs.

hardly, discs are very easy to change once pads are out

Why !

You only need a extra either 17 or 19mm spanner

I have never had problems changing discs

He's being specific to the Octavia VRS. I've never had trouble changing discs on any car I've had before but the rear discs on the VRS are a right pain in the arse to change due to lack of space to get at the bolts.

Suuuure.

They have obviously not tried to get the carriers off on the rear of an Octy!

Not too bad if you have access to a lift, but a bit of a mare trying to do it on a jack.
