My 05 vrs has just covered 106k, 7k ago I did an oil and filter change with quantum 5w40, checked the oil and on the dip stick it's gone down to 1 third only on the dip stick.

Car has has a mixture of long and short drives but never less than 15 mins.

I'd this normal?

The oil level measured on the dipstick has dropped by 2/3 in 7000 miles? I would be very happy with that minimal oil consumption.

Seems pretty normal to me as well, some use less and some use more. Less than a litre in 7000 miles is about average.

Agreed, that wouldn't give rise to concern. I'm still amazed at my old felly dropping down to around 3/4 on the dipstick over the course of 10k & she's on the way to 114k!

From what I can gauge the vRS's do seem to use a little more but this being characteristically quite normal, although have heard some horror stories along the way!

My vrs uses as much oil as a container ship!

Mine doesnt use hardly any, checked the dip stick about 4 days ago after doing 6k in it and the stick is about 2 mm below max.

Its all swings and round a bouts really, some use more than other, its diesel at the end of the day.

On a side note i drove past my mates house the other day and he was putting oil in his car AGAIN. I stopped and asked his why he was putting oil in his car after he only put some in 2 days before, his reply was "well its heavy oil init, say on the log book". After picking my jaw off the floor and trying to explain that heavy oil does not meant 'its heavy on oil' i then check his dipstick. After draining out around 2 litres off excess oil the car was back to MAX.

Some people should do a competency test before being allowed to own a car.

That isnt consumption I'd be worried about, I'm lucky that mine is on 170k and uses not a drop between services but then plenty use a little more.

My vrs doesn't use any and i do 500+ miles per week. On 103k atm and rising fast

When i first got mine it used bucket loads.... Doesnt use hardly anything now!

my vrs has not used any oil at all got the car at 78000 miles its now 87000 miles not a drop

In my 20k of ownership I've got to the stage where I don't even check it anymore as I've never once had to top up the oil between services. Probably 3/5ths of my miles are motorway

Appears random that some use oil and others don't but there must be a reason behind it?!
