Featured Replies

Yeah mine is a stock 150 turbo but mapped!

Just saying my stock 150 tubby is requesting more than a stage 2 150 tubby which is crazy

Some interesting reading there. Fair play to faboka vrs, its knowledge and help like that given here which make this forum what it is. I hope it stays that way. Hope the OP gets his map sorted.

  • But at the same time, would you trust a mapper who says an fmic is not essential or not needed and after 7 attempts still not suggest it.

  • You'd have thought the mapper would have recommended a fmic at that level of tune..

Right the main part :)

Fueling.

First off timing (Start of injection) is stock. Actual fueling duration peaks at around 30 degrees of engine rotation. This is very similar to a mapped PD130 BLT.

Duration is how much engine rotation the injectors have to stay open for to obtain X mg/str. To see what the requested mg/str is we need to log group 1. Forgot to ask for this sorry :( But I have a feeling this will flatline at 60mg/str :giggle:

Why do I say it will probably flatline at 60mg/str. Well the standard duration maps/tables only go up to 60mg/str. If you want more you have to alter the table to allow a higher ready but you'll probably find (happy/hope to be proven wrong) that the map/table hasn't been extend but infact the calibration values increase to achieve more fuel. Only downside to this is the ECU will no longer have full control on the fuel. What I mean is the ECU will request 60mg but will actual get lets say 70mg.

Ah gotch yeah :)

So looks like a blt generic map then?

Wowzers! Awesome mapper, maybe the mapper thinks bhp is all about turbo size and not software

I had a Celtic tuning map I'm ashamed to say. It was before I joined the forum. My brother also had a Celtic tuning map.

They are very poor. My brothers turned out to be based on an automatic and they upped the injectors to dangerous amounts

Depends on who's generic map it is :)

So my personal view.

Turbo pressure too low for a hybrid. Even if this was the desired pressure then theirs still work to be done to actually achieve requested.

Fueling request. This isn't a big thing as its actual fueling that counts but I personally like to keep the ECU in full control. If we want to fool it then just plug a tuning box in.

Fueling. Timing needs work and more fueling needed combined with more boost.

A log of group 1 will show us what the ecu believes its requeting in mg/str combined with duration. Shame I've not got a log from a standard car to compare :(

Yes help from faboka is muchly appreciated I will try to log group 1 today at some point do you think there is some stuff that you would change? If so maybe we could arrange me driving to you possibly so you can have a proper look maybe I will pm about that also I forgot to mention its a 130 hybrid not 150, I'm pretty sure we have established the mapper is at fault I think I'm not up to speed on what boost is measured in but the last time I was there he said turbo was doing fine and actual boost is within 0.100 millibar of requested boost, thanks for all replies again

130 hybrid should still be requesting 1.6 - 1.7 bar

Well hopefully I can get it requesting that and sort out any other underlying stuff that's wrong and get the kind of power I want lol

Yeah but its not as simple as that!

I urge you to get a decent mapper on the case

If it was me I'd start again from scratch :)

Lol I had a Celtic Tuning map, the guy was very convincing. He mapped my 115bhp Focus TDCI to a supposedly 155bhp.

Anyway it went quite well but fuel economy was crap! Could only get 40mpg driving steady. It was smoky and at certain revs the map used to jerk the whole car!

Which is pretty much the reason I sold the car on the end. Went back to petrol for 5 weeks, hated it and now own my awesome Fabia!

My mpg shoots up by 10-15 mpg with maf unplugged I just put that down to an incorrect reading from the maf. such a shame as looked very hard to find a good mapper because I was worried for my car hopefully faboka s map will sort me out, who has done your mapping big jase? And also danham who did your map? Lewis

My mapping was done by Richard Washbrook of Oscarli!

Known to be one of the best custom mappers around

If its hard for you to access a decent mapped Shark Performance are good and they do an STS system (self tuning) basically you load the map onto the car yourself, they will write the software to your specifications and then send it out to you,

Unfortunately it isn't cheap but you get what you pay for, id be asking for a refund on the map you have

Yeah I was thinking of asking for my money back not sure he is gunna want to give it back but he hasn't even given me the projected quotes for a standard car yet I may give him a call thanks again to everyone for input

Shark have done my map, I'm only running stage 1 map....for now!

give Will a call at P Torque (he is on here) i can highly recommend his work. he has mapped my brothers Fabia VRS and my K04 equipped TSi Octavia Vrs
