Starter motor question

Featured Replies

Hello.
I've posted before regarding my starting problem.

Now any again my car does not start. turn the key and get a single click. If I turn the key back and forth couple of times it eventually starts fine.

I've read on here could be a loose wire on the starter motor or in some cases completely snapped off. Just had a look and is this the wire people are talking about.

cool cheers, I've checked the wire and it seems al fine. Guess i'll have to do some more digging to find the starting problem.

Did you check the Battery?

Well I took the battery out and tested it . Showed about 12.9 v

A mere voltage output will not determine the Battery state, you will need to do a "Load Test" on the Battery.

Other that the cranking problem, do you have other probs like the head lights dimming under low revs? If yes, it could very well be the Battery.

Pull off the black connector (push red tab down and pull/lever off). Then have a look at that wire. Was thinking such failures tend to be sudden and complete but Jason (Devonutopia) had a similar not starting issue to yours. IMO it's likely to be broken/worn inside the conector or just at the connector.

Well had the aa man round. Confirmed buggerd starter motor done this cool test. I start the car as normal and wait for it to click but hold the key down. Then he tapped on the solenoid and it started. So I've ordered a new starter motor
