I now have a spare new green caliper.....arrived today....

I was hoping to wait for someone to successfully fit one of the ebay green ones so I can dive in there and get one too.

Just the same as any other?

Jason I'm fitting 2 new ones to Skuds car in about 1 hr so will let you know :-)

i already have 2 on mine

The ebay one are the same as oem from same place aswell

Are the ebay ones refurbed?

My refurbed ones had the Audi logo ground off (TRW).

Look brand new and Audi symbol taken off

Don't look like refuted units

I have a problem with my OSR brake somewhere. Possibly binding as the wheel was reasonably warm after a half hour journey where as the other three wheels were cold in comparison.

Going to jack it up after and make sure everything is free, typical it happens the day before MOT!

Check handbrake cable too!

my octy was the cable was buggered.

Cable is moving freely, only thing I saw (and removed) was a hair net of all things, it was wrapped around where the handbrake mech moves. Not convinced something so thin would cause a problem but will see when it goes for MOT tomorrow.

Just jacked it up and the wheel is pretty solid, won't move without a good shove so I'm assuming that the caliper is goosed :(

Do both rears!

The opposite side is fine, the wheel moves freely without effort. OSR is another story. I've managed to free it up a little bit from the back of the caliper (gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet) so that its not *as* tough to move the wheel, it will have to do until the new one arrives, I won't be driving it much/far until the replacement comes anyway.

The opposite side might be fine, but how efficient is it compared to a new caliper?

Doing just one is pretty silly, just my opinion of course...

Cable might be moving freely but look at the condition of the cable all the way upto the guide tube by the tunnel.

I thought the same with mine, the cable looked to be moving freely but as i looked at the cable cover/Plastic (what ever you call it) it had a part which had turned to rubber and was not holding the cable, it was streching and shrinking with the cable.

one trick i have lernt, Remove the offending cable from the caliper (just unhook it) re-set the mech back on its stop, Pump the pedal 5 times, re-attach cable and try it. if this dosent work and the cable is fine then it sounds like a dead caliper..... :(

Yep, the other may be on its way fairly soon after.

Thanks for the tip. Ill have a look at that today and see if it changes anything.

Test with the handbrake didn't work. Suprise suprise!

New caliper will be here tomorrow along with new rear discs and pads.

Well, that's that! MOT has come back and the NSR caliper had also failed for binding, not as bad as the drivers side but still enough to fail.

Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing :D

Have to order another caliper for the other side now.

Very common sadly, at least youll have 2 spankers on.

Yeah there is that. At least I know it will be sound for the Nurburgring in a couple of weeks, quite pleased I had the MOT now really.
