Light upgrades

Featured Replies

I love my octavia but the lights really are old looking. It's a 1.9 octy l&k

What bulbs will give

1Headlights a very slight blue tint or pure white

2 LEDs for other lights without errors such as indicator, number plate, interior etc

Cheers

I will give you a straight forward answer but be prepared for others to jump on with all the hate and legal stuff.

Headlights - 2 options

1. Use something like osram night breakers, no where near as yellow put light output isn't much different (fractionally better)

2. Use a METAL based H7 HID kit of around 4300-5000k bulbs (much brighter and beautifully white)

Number plate lights - use some 6 x 5050 white LEDs off eBay, really bright and more modern looking. These can then be coded in to operate correctly.

Interior lights - any led will do as you don't need error free ones. I have 1 festoon in the front and 2 501 LEDs and similar in the back interior light.

front side lights - change them for some 501 5x 5050 SMD (search eBay again) and I'm pretty sure you can have them coded in dependant on the age of the car (I couldn't see you mentioned it) under "cold diagnostics"

Now if you want my opinion and having worked with LED's for quite a few years don't replace the indicator, brake lights, fog lights etc with led equivilants on eBay, they're just not designed to work with the current reflectors and often will result in the apperance of reduced brightness from the unit.

However complete replacements that were designed for LEDs look good like the tail lights from dectane (currently still only available for the estate)

Good luck and wait for the 'discussion' to begin :-)

I thought L&K were HID as standard?

I thought L&K were HID as standard?

Possibly, I just assumed the OP had halogens as he asked for a whiter headlight?? :-|

I thought L&K were HID as standard?

it was an option on early L&Ks and only became standard on later models

Yep, around 2007/8 they became standard IIRC
