Pressed plates - how to fit?

Featured Replies

Got my pressed plates today and hopefully gonna have them fitted over the weekend, my question is... How have you fitted yours?

I'm thinking a few strips of strong double sided sticky foam or somthing similar.

Thanks

halfords do a really wide roll of number plate tape .... i intend to cover all the back of mine and stick it on .... currently bolted but can damage paintwork

I think Halfords do decent stuff to stick them on

Normal double sided foam tape won't hold them long

Halfords stuff held my plastic one on for all of 2 weeks.

Double sided Velcro strips.

Just checked halfords website and they have two types of stuff...

Still not sure now then!

Whatever I use it will have a few blobs of no nails or similar on aswell just incase...

What have any of you personally used on your own pressed metal plates?

Get some plate holders, plus the tape.

Some good silicone sealant. Its held number plates on my cars forever, as well as holding interior mirrors to glass and repairing window seals :D

I personally screwed my front one on but got those proper caps to cover the screws. Rear is held on by tape.

Mine is in a "Czech Republic" numberplate holder on the back, which is designed for metal plates, so it clips right in.

do you work for my old employers, Bodgeit and Leggit and Co.

Halfords do circular Velcro bits that stick on, that's what I use easy to remove as well.

So I'm summary...

I need a concoction of silicone, super glue, Velcro pads and double sided tape..

...to stick to my Czech Republic backing plates.

This sounds expensive!

I shall get a pair in the morning anyway!

My CZ rep numberplate holder is stuck to my bootlid with some industrial strength double sided tape.  Does the job

The strips that halfords sell are extremely strong. I used to work there and had no end up fun trying to peel them off again. Even strong enough to hold on a spoiler for a couple of months too lol. You can get it in different thicknesses too.

Day

"No more nails" double sided tape from Homebase, works fine on my plates, clean the surface before applying though

These should do the job

Looks like the hammer's an Estwing to.

Estwings are great!! Mine has a blue handle and will be left to my children

after I'm dead. I've never known one or known of one to break.

Got some halfords tape, some no nails and... Some surrounds to hold them in.

The surrounds are just a thin black frame all the way round same as what's on the plate so hopefully won't even be noticeable. I'm going to screw the frame on first and then put some tape and abit no nails on the plate then clip it in the frame, just to make sure it doesn't fall out.

Thanks for the replies
