Broken Yeti?

Featured Replies

Near Whitby this lunchtime I passed a '13 reg Yeti on an AA recovery truck. Not a good advertisment! No idea which model it was but it was brown metallic colour.

Agreed, not a good advert.

I followed a new Range Rover yesterday (about £80k worth) on a recovery truck and I thought that'll be one cheesed off owner.

Let's hope the Yeti just had a nasty puncture that couldn't be fixed with a can of funny foam.

You've got to admit, it's quite a rare sight to see a Skoda broken down.

I can't remember the last time I did ??

I think it helps that we get the old tech after Audi and VW have tested it. ;)

I saw a red Yeti with hazard lights on at the side of the A/M20 near Folkestone on Thursday, I wanted to go to their aid, but realized I would be unable to do anything but cause an extra danger!

As far as cars breaking down and not being a great advert for the type, even the best maintained car will have issues, whether due to not following manufacturers care instructions, or general user error. Motorsport go to show even a car which is cared for 24/7 will still have mechanical issues.

It's only if you only see them broken down that it should affect confidence.

The received wisdom among both the rallying and motor trade folk that I converse with is:

"If you want a VW Group vehicle that will be as reliable as the old VW advertising leads you to expect (remember: "If everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen.......") - then buy one with Skoda badges on it!"

So that's what I did.  Happy enough with that decision so far.......

Speaking of Ads....Bring back the "cake" ad!!  (In another thread of course).

My last time pulled up with an AA guy in attendance was for a disintegrated tyre - not the car's fault in any way.  (The X-Trail, by the way.)

I have seen a good few 13 plate yetis recently on my journeys, but the last time I had a car on an AA recovery truck was when I stupidly drove the car at night when I shoun't have (had a cataract in my left eye) and the blur was very bad and I am half blind in my right eye, I then went over a pedestrian island and ripped the sump off the Octavia, luckily that was the only damage and got it lifted to a skoda dealer and then got the car delivered to my house to save anymore accidents. Didn't drive for another 6 weeks after I had my operation and recovered

It might not have been a breakdown......

Driver falls ill

Run out of fuel

Puncture

Lost keys

Illegally parked

Could be any number of reasons. ;)

Exactly - Yetis don't break down - they just fail to proceed!! lol
