Alarm Problems

Featured Replies

ive had my car for 4+ years and never a problem with the alarm, its just started going off on its own

reading on here it seems you can look out for tell tale signs of whats wrong but none of them seem to apply to mine

lights are flashing when locking and unlocking vehicle

alarm goes off even after double locking

intermittant wipers works fine

the car is now 9 years old, could it be a problem with the back up battery in the siren ?....does it start to go off if it gets low ?....i know this happens on Vauxhalls but not sure on VAG vehicles

is the bonnet switch part of the catch mechanism ?.....it does look pretty grubby

Exactly the same on an Elegance 1.4 16v 2001.

Had the problem for so long we never lock the car.

Bonnet up = no intermittent wipe which leads me to think, from this forum, that there is a bonnet microswitch. Where on earth is it? There is nothing on the latch, nothing anywhere inside the wing/front lip. In fact, I'm certain there is no microswitch at all so why does the intermittent go off with bonnet up (and EPC light on - engine not running; with engine running all symptoms the same but no EPC lamp lit).

Lamps flash when setting alarm/locking - all as normal.

If anyone thinks this car has a bonnet microswitch could they post a pic, please?

im pretty sure its part of the bonnet lock mechanism on the front panel, i know mine has a plug going to it

ive since realised what i thought was double locking wasnt probably double locking, so the interior sensors could still be the problem trigger ?

my alarm didnt go off last night, i did double lock it but id also had a decent drive last night so possibly charged up the battery enough ?

ive double locked it at work today and so far so good, do we know for certain what double locking does ?.....does it turn off the interior sensors ?

i did a diagnostic scan using our Launch system at work and it threw up "01598 drive battery voltage signal too low" could this be the siren back up battery ? The battery symbol comes on with ignition on so its not the problem signal wire which ive seen people mention before

car always starts first time and quickly, doesnt have to turn over for any length of time, pretty much instant always

Hi. I didn't want to open new topic since my question is related to this one.  Does anyone knows do all Elegance mk. 1 Fabias have factory alarm system?

My 2004 1.9 TDI hasn't got one. I'm the second owner, the previous one just said that it hasn't got an alarm system. So, I wonder has it been pulled out or there are Elegance Fabias that doesn't have it preisntalled?

P.S. Best regards everyone since this is my first post.

I've just found an old article about mk1 Fabias and in the car security section it says:''...elegance models add alarm to car security...''

Here's the article:http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/cartestreports/2005059.html

So, can anyone confirm that?

My 2002 1.9Tdi Elegance certainly has an alarm as it kept going off at night, seriously annoying the neighbours.
