1000 miles dealer inspection

Featured Replies

When I bought my car my dealer indicated I could take it back after approximately 1,000 miles for a free inspection. Do all dealers do this or is it something they choose to do for customer service? If it's common have forum members generally taken up the offer? So far my Yeti has been running faultlessly with no strange noises (hopefully that's not jinxed things) so I'm wondering if there is any real benefit to taking it in.

Interesting one. I'd like to hear the answers to this too. Thanks for asking.

Same offer here, why not take it up, it's free and an opportunity to keep in touch with the dealer ( who nows when you might need them on your side)

Had 2 yetis from different dealers and not had this offer, tend to think its to create a good relationship and make sure you return to them .

If its no great inconvenience why not take them up on their offer, you have nothing to lose.

In the bad old days something like this was routine for new cars, if I recall correctly. Used to tighten and top up after initial bedding in, I think.

Not at 1000mls but at 6 months I had similar offer from non supplying dealer(but who had fitted flaps). Seemed worth an hour of my time especially as I wanted discs checked(my rears are quite grooved but told it is okay and I was not using brakes hard enough!).

I foolishly bought mine from Arnold Clark Skoda in Inverness. The only 'free' service they provide is freeing your wallet from lots of cash in return for lousy service.

VAG used to do a 1000 mile oil change.

I would think it might be a partial hold over from that?

Certainly wasn't offered on my last VW, Seat or this Yeti though.

Absolutely, I remember it well.  In fact, I think that some settings were actually changed after 1000 miles and an oil change was included.  It's absolutely not necessary now but it is a nice gesture.  I'd do it as long as it was convenient, but not otherwise.
