As title my current ride is a remapped Volvo s40 t5 which I love dearly but due to a recent redundancy and relocation to a new job my commute is going to more than double so the t5 is going to be too expensive to keep on so I ve been looking at tdi and really like the look of the vrs (I almost got a 1.8t vrs before I got my last s40 t4) I'm going to look at a 2007 70k vrs at the weekend just wondering if there's anything specific I need to look out for? Eg when does the timing belt need doing.

cambelt seems to change on who you ask but if its not been done i'd say it needs doing. Remember, rubber degrades so 6 years is plenty for a cambelt.

 

Make sure its had all recalls (injectors and software update especially)

 

DPF's can be an issue if its only ever used for stop start journeys

Check the clutch and pedal feel, vibrations could mean dmf on its last legs
