Avh-2400bt not turning on in Leon mk2

Featured Replies

Hi guys, been a long time since I posted as I parted with my furby early this year. Unfortunately seatcupra.net is not as half as helpful as you briskodians so here I am yet again with another problem lol. I decided to swap the oem headunit for an aftermarket single din (pioneer p5700dvd) by buying a connects2 and pioneer patch lead, all was working well but I felt like an upgrade so firstly I decided to borrow my mates pioneer p5200dvd but it just wouldnt turn on once connected, however it worked fine in his focus, now I recently bought the pioneer avh 2400bt and once connected I have the same issue with it not turning on... What do you think I need to do to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance

Have you swapped the ignition and perm feeds over?

Thanks for your reply mate, and no I'm

Not sure where to look for the permanent and ignition wires... Is this on the stereo harness of the headunit or the connects 2 adapter lead? And what colour are they I'm sorry I'm a total noob when it comes to ICE

On the Pioneer loom you have red and yellow wires, these have bullet connectors on them. Swap them around so the red connects to the yellow and visa versa.

Ok I will try this and let you know how I get on... Again thanks for the replies mate, greatly appreciated

are you using a simple pioneer loom to seat loom adaptor?

If its anything like the octavia this wont work as it runs on canbus which has no ignition live. You will need to find a switched live in the fuse box or buy a adaptor lead designed to fix the problem (around £40)

The pioneer lead I bought was a canbus connects2 lead... I swapped the red and yellow wires do it went red to yellow and it worked for a half hour until the unit started restarting and now is not starting at all... I then switched back the wires so red to red and yellow to yellow and the headunit comes on but you can't turn it off even when you take out the key from ignition... What do I do?

Ryan, tech1 where are you? please help me fix this nightmare of an issue :(

sorry chap, been swearing at the car all day. I hate the fact the speakers are riveted in place lol

Ok, so you have the correct lead. Its the same as the one im using.

The ign live and perm live need to be swapped over on the pioneer loom. This is done simply by swapping them at their bullet connectors, one red and one yellow.

This should work with no issues as its exactly how my pioneer p77mp is setup in my Mk2 octy vrs

Ahh mate these cars are becoming a right ball ache... I already switched the red to yellow and vice versa and this did seem to work but only for 15 mins until the unit started to restart continuously at high volume and then finally died altogether... I thought I blew the head unit but when I switched the wires back to red red and yellow yellow the headunit came on again and seemed to handle the high volume fine but the only issue is the headunit forgets its setting and does not switch off even when engine is turned off and key is taken out so now I'm having to take out the 15a fuse from the engine bay to cut the power to the unit. I'm beginning to think that the connects2 adapter may be faulty but then again I have no knowledge of car electronics. Can you advise any further mate?

Thanks

To stop it forgetting its settings etc you need to swap the red and yellow back

Its possible you are turning it up into clip and the head unit is going into a safety mode

I think thats it, you are overloading the amp in the headunit causing it to trip out to avoid blowing itself up. If you are playing it that loud, then you may have to look at external amps if you want to keep that stereo.

When the head unit kept restarting it was when the volume was turned up to about 70% and it's only being used to power the Leon's factory speakers... I took it to an audio shop yesterday and the guy told me that as I had it wired from yellow to red this caused some return power problem which caused the connects2 box adapter to trip which means I now require a new connects2 adapter... I'm now going to purchase a new adapter and wire it up with red to red and yellow to yellow and see if this fixes the problem
