testing dmf on vrs - judder

Featured Replies

hello,

ive now got the clutch and dmf out the vrs to try and find out why it judders all the time, its definately had a recent clutch but on the original DMF.

Now it looks quite worn to me, there is a total of 3cm of rotational movement on it (that is 1.5cm each way from its centre position.

Is this ok? or the likely cause of the judder?

so where to go from here? i am intending on selling the car as soon as its rebuilt, so should i get a new dmf and fit to existing clutch, or go for a smf conversion?

3cm sounds much but it isn't.Is quite ok,because brand new DMF has 1cm in play.

BUt another type of play must concern you,the one on the surface the flat play,if you have some tha's bad news

How much resistance is there in the 3cm of play as there should be some especially as it gets to its limit points

15mm each way isn't too much really. Is there any in and out play on the outer section?

Took a video of my old DMF once removed to show how much play it had:

Radially there was some loose movement and movement with resistance, seen at the end of the clip.
