Lease coming to an end

Featured Replies

Hi All

The contract lease on my vRS estate is coming to an end in a couple of months.

Has anyone any experience of returning a lease car to Skoda UK? If so, were there any small paint chips/scuffs etc on the car, and were you charged for these?

I've got a few chips on the bonnet and a couple of slight scratches on the alloy wheels. I know the car needs to be returned in very good condition, but it has done 24,000 miles so there ought to be a little allowance for this, shouldn't there?

Has anyone returned a contract lease car, and what was your experience?

Thanks for your help!

Do you have an allowance for "fair wear and tear" ?

If It's the same as mine you should have, I don't think they can complain about a couple of stone chips and slight alloy damage.

Thanks for your replies. There is a fair wear and tear clause but I'm trying to find someone who has actually returned a car to Skoda UK at the end of their contract and is aware of the process/problems.

What it says on paper and what happens in real life are often quite different!

The car is off to auction anyway. So just present it well, washed, polished and clean and vacuumed out..

Only touch up any chips if you can do it very well,

otherwise let the new buyer do it.

Take pictures of the car and any damage no matter how slight for your records.

Then do not accept them picking every fault and laying it on,

It is a 'Leased car Hand Back', not a 'Trade In appraisal', or a 'Motability Lease Hand back' where they are or should be looking at it differently.

you will have paid high enough for the lease and if its 3 years old and only worth

£9000 & not worn well, they were the ones that worked out the value at the end of the lease, 3 years ago.

Or is it less than 3 years old, and is it under the mileage allowance?

Not really, true though. They have to do whatever is in the contract between you both. Read it. Read it in detail and be prepared to remind them of it. But only to your advantage. ;-)
