Is A/C covered under warranty?

Featured Replies

Morning!

The misses has a 10 plate Seat Altea XL 2.0 tdi cr 170 and has an extended warranty through Seat until September thr 9th. Now the issue is that the air con is not very cold and probably needs re-gasing but is that covered under warranty?

A re-gas is not covered under warranty and they say it needs doing every couple of years - i.e. it's a maintenance thing.

If there is a leak then that will be covered but the re-gas won't be.

Had my condensor replaced and re-gased due to leak. All done under warranty.

If a 3 year old car needs re-gasing it will probably have a leak somewhere

VW recon that you lose upto 10% of gas each year thats why they recommend an aircon service every 2 years. i just had my Vrs serviced last week and had the aircon serviced from Skoda. i would have thought Seat would have the same policy regarding it needing serviced every 2 years

We bought the car last September with a year's warranty and to be honest I don't think the A/C has ever been that cold. The warranty guy at Seat White Dove said exactly the same as you Phil-E, so its booked in for monday to get a leak test and if all is ok they quoted me £69 + vat for a re-gas. Cheers chaps!

£69+ vat for a re gass is expensive my skoda dealer only charged me £45.79+ vat

Ahh ok my dealer must be cheaper then

Yeah, sounds like you've got a good dealer.

Skoda's National Pricing is the maximum you should pay so even with VAT you did well.
