ALIEN IN MY FUEL TANK, and it wont let go!

Featured Replies

Bought an old fun a couple of months ago, it has various problems and I' me sorting em out slowly, but this one has done me...The fuel sender unit registers zero on the gauge, but the yellow light's on, so I was told its the sender in the tank. So bought the floaty bit with bit that registers the fuel level, and went to fix it in, took off the tank cover, took off the pipes ect, unscrewed the top and inside was a great big white thing all covered in pipes, horrible, and I cant get it out...... HELP according to the book it should just lift out, Ime assuming its the fuel pump, but you need to be an octopus with a couple of extra hands, any thoughts, john.

I don't see what's the problem if fuel gauge shows zero AND fuel warning light is on...

unless it's all the time, whatever fuel quantity you have in the tank, but you didn't mention that.

yes just wrestle it out thru the hole, remove the rubber seal from the tank top first tho, then with a bit of wriggling it will come out, pull the flexable pipes to one side to help give a bit of space.

Removed the rubber ring, moved away a pipe and BINGO out she popped, Lots of thanks Freedom  Now I gotta get it back in  hmmmmm!

John

after removing the alien thanks to Freedom   it would be appropriate to enlighten us why is not OK to have the orange light on when the fuel gauge shows zero.

The tank had plenty of gas! but the gauge showed zero, the light was on because the float in the tank was stuck down, But its now all good. The beast is back in the tank, nasty looking thing,

your initial post is telling another story.

The fuel sender unit registers zero on the gauge, but the yellow light's on

no matter how poor may be my English, there is no mention about how much fuel you have in the tank.

further more, the conjunction marked by me gives a new meaning to your problem.

it's like you are baffled by having both conditions met simultaneously... at least that's my understanding of your phrase.

anyways, good luck putting the octopus back to liquid.

I think your English is better than ours. I've heard of a conjunction but couldn't tell you what one is.
