Boot door wheel carrier

Featured Replies

Returning from Derbyshire today using the M1 we were over taken by a steel grey Yeti with full size alloy wheel fixed to the boot door. Never seen that before they must surely have to remove the wheel before opening the boot? Any thoughts?

Well there is no way the hatch supports would be strong enough to hold the hatch up with a wheel and tyre on it!

They only way I can see it working would be with a "swing-away" carrier that would have to be body mounted, and personally would not be something I would be fitting.

From my view of the car the wheel appeared to be just 'bolted on' so I'd agree impossible to open without removing the wheel. There were four passengers and travelling at a reasonable speed.

Sounds like we'll have to start a National Briskoda Yeti hunt in order to capture this rare and elusive beast on film!! :)

Could be Skoda UK are using the Chinese Test Mule to see if it runs OK on UK roads.

On UK roads? Well they may want to test its mild off road abilities so UK roads would fit the bill  :giggle:
