Service Campaigns 48J8 and 70E8

Featured Replies

My Superb (new March 2012) was in for its first variable service today. I've not experienced any problems with the car, but in addition to the service two warranty jobs were carried out:

Service campaign 48J8 - an update to the software of the power steeering unit

Service campaign 70E8 - an update to the seat adjustment control unit

I thought this information might be of use to others with 2012 cars who might want to check if these updates have been done when their cars are serviced.

I'll try and remember, but my first service will be in August 2014 as I'm on variable servicing and have only covered 8,200 miles in the first 10½ months.

Thank you for that and as my service is due in a couple of months I will write those numbers down.

I had mine serviced (First fixed) last week and there was no mention of these updates being done.

I wonder if it makes a difference with yours being a 2.0TSI where mine is the 1.8TSI

I was given a separate invoice for the warranty work and asked to sign it so dealer could reclaim cost from Skoda, so I don't think work would have been done without telling you.

As your car is 2013 MY it may not need the updates.

I'd expect at least the seat adjustment control unit to be the same on all Elegance models regardless of engine type.

On my 5th. Superb Elegance, passenger seats have never changed position on their own, if the adjusting switches are touched the seat will of course move, they will stop as soon as you stop touching the switches as when you are adjusting. If the seat continues to move after releasing the switches it can only be a faulty switch or a module.

Thanks for raising this topic.

I've just checked & both service actions were undertaken prior to purchase back in February!
