Drive the deal

Featured Replies

I'm ready to arder a new yeti 170 TDI Elegance with heated screen, metalic paint, silver roof bars, MDI and TPM.

Dtd are offering this for £21979 saving £2911 on list price. The best my local dealer could offer was £500 off. So its a bit of a no brainer. Dtd also states that 0% finance is available from the dealer on this price.

Has anyone bought through dtd recently, if so how did you find the experience? Any issues with the supplying dealer?

I bought my Fabia VRS in 2006 direct from simpsons in colne who matched the dtd price, 400 mile round trip to get the car but the experience was absolutely faultless, big saving for the sake of a £50 train ticket to colne.

Just looking for recent experience of dtd or other broker, good or bad.

Cheers!

Steve

Thank you for your reply!

Depending on how far you are willing to travel, there are dealers who will get close to DtD prices.

I have heard of instances where customers have had longer than normal waits when purchasing through them.

We bought our 62 plate yeti from a dealer in Stockport, and were so pleased with the service and price we bought a citigo from them 4months later!

DtD were extremely good to me about ten years ago when my, then,  one year old, car was carjacked from me midway through the purchase of a Toyota from DtD.  I was greatly traumatized at the time by the violent and potentially life threatening nature of the incident and immediately went off the idea of owning a new car and they kindly relieved me of the obligation to continue the purchase and the Toyota dealer (in South London) in question resold the car (it hadn't been registered to me at that time).  I've held them in high regard since and have spoken to them since and remain confident that I'd confidently buy from them.

Bought my Yeti through D the D 2 years ago and could not fault them for service or price, dealer at that time was in Islworth west London.

The Isleworth dealer is no longer their nominated dealer.

I've used DtD several times with no issues.

My DtD was through Simpsons 7 years ago, So impressed with Simpsons (Colne) I have just bought my new Octy from them (at dtd price match) Top  dealer imo

When I bought my fabia through DTD 10 months ago it was Doncaster that fulfilled the order.

My cancelled order was with DtD/Doncaster dealer.  Fabulous saving promised on a 1.8 SE Plus 4x4.  Only downside was a 5-6 month wait from end-February. Then 3 months in I got the call telling me Skoda had just stopped making the 1.8 petrol engine and cancelled my order. That's not either DtD's or the dealer's fault I guess, but many people on here questioned the length of the wait - maybe it had something to do with bulk orders, who knows.  I just suggest you check lead times elsewhere and question any lengthy ones you get from a broker.

Still bitter about the 1.8's demise.  The used one I bought recently goes like **** off a shovel. But no DAB or LW, so I've resorted to Heath Robinson tactics to listen to the cricket.

Hi,

We have just bought a TDI 140 4x4 DSG Elegance through DtD. More than £3k off and a 4 month wait (we were told 6-8 months when we ordered). DtD efficient and the supplying dealer (Hayselden Skoda, Doncaster) were very good keeping us informed of progress. Keith at Hayselden even managed to change towbar prep to factory towbar late in the day when these became available. Hayselden also delivered over the Scottish border! We would buy like this again in future.

I bought mine with DtD and no issues with them.  You deal with them for maybe a week after which point they put you in contact with a real dealer.

A bit unfair to name said dealer on here I think, as that will just mean everyone goes to said dealer directly and DtD will cease to exist...  Not clever.

By-passing DtD would make no sense as you don't pay them any money. Using them is a no brainer as they find the dealer who can offer the best price. At one point in time it might be the one who supplied our car but it could be any dealer in the country. I didn't have the time or the inclination to search out the best dealer - happy for DtD to do the job for me. Although DtD don't charge other online brokers do.

Sorry I disagree..The dealers change on a regular basis, for a variety of commercial reasons. I understand, that Hayselden`s have now stopped supplying DtD anyway, although someone else will be..

Agree with this. Carfile didnt charge me either, they get their fee from Dealer.

I think if I went to the dealer direct I would have had to pay more. The profit margin for the dealer via broker is smaller as its about quantity of sales (that is what I was told anyway).

Plus all of my extras were discounted to broker prices.

Of course YOU as the buyer don't pay anything.  Doh.  The dealer pays DtD a finder's fee (roughly £300).  So if you go directly to said dealer he saves paying that fee to DtD...  and then which company will go bust if all of us do this?  DtD of course.  Not rocket science.

I seem to recall that publishing the name of the supplying dealer is discouraged!! I don't however have the documentation to hand.

In any event the supplying dealer does change from time to time. I would use DtD again without hesitation

Thank you all for the replies. I will be ordering through dtd any day now.

One final question to those who have recently purchased through dtd, we're you able to take the 0% finance offer on top of the discount?

Cheers

I would imagine you can as DtD specifically mention it above the yeti choices.

If you can't it would seem a bit misleading.

The 0% Skoda wide finance offer is not related to any discount you negotiate with the dealer.

They are seperate and you can have both.

Thats what i thought, the extra information box at the bottom of the quote states as follows, (It's the line that i have put into red italics that that confused me, does that mean they, as in dtd are unable to offer 0%?)

Extra Information
Skoda are marketing the following finance deals:

1. 0% APR Representative PCP Finance over 18-42 months with a minimum deposit equivalent to one monthly payment (maximum deposit is 30%). [7.9% APR Representative on Adventure models]
2. 0% APR Representative Hire Purchase Finance over 24 months with a deposit of between 10% - 50% of the cost of the car. [7.9% APR Representative on Adventure models]
The dealer we put you in touch with can arrange this for you if you would like it. Subject to status.

Please note there is a FREE 3 year/30,000 miles servicing plan available if you take out 0% APR Representative PCP finance [7.9% APR Representative on Adventure models] with Skoda. Terms and conditions apply.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer 0% APR Representative finance in conjunction with our high level of discount. If you are looking to finance a new car then please telephone us to request a quote. Tel: 01628 472276 or 08456 262626.

NOTE: ALL SKODA MODELS ORDERED WITH US WILL BE SUPPLIED BRAND NEW. YOU WILL BE THE FIRST REGISTERED KEEPER. SOME COMPANIES ARE OFFERING PRE-REGISTERED CARS. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT BUY ONE. PLEASE SEE THE NOTE ON OUR PRE-REGISTERED CARS PAGE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.

FREE DELIVERY TO YOUR DOOR IS AVAILABLE TO ANY MAINLAND ADDRESS IN ENGLAND. (ADDITIONAL CHARGES WILL APPLY TO DELIVERIES IN NORTH WALES AND SCOTLAND). PLEASE NOTE ALL FACTORY OPTIONS WILL BE DISCOUNTED!

Quotes and offers are for cars ordered between 5 July and 30 September 2013.

Doesn't make sense.

Does that mean you are getting more discount from DtD as they are setting you up on an interest based finace deal so they figure in a back hander from the HP/PCP company to get their prices so low.

DtD can finance your car if you want...  and if they do then the above caveat applies.  I'd wager that in 99% of the cases they only pass you on to the dealer from which you can choose your finance with said dealer.  And in that case the above caveat does not apply obviously as you have NOTHING to do with DtD anymore...

I've seen instances where they specifically say the prices depend on you taking out dealer finance and if you don't take out the finance then you need to add £1,500 to the quoted price.

This was on an IX35 earlier this year.

If that isn't going to work you could see what someone like broadspeed has to say.

The prices are very similar.

Edit:- i Note carfile, which i believe marie used?, say that 14% discounts are available but only for "cash" orders.
