Citigo insurance from Skoda

Featured Replies

So I was in the dealers and sorted out the free 7 day driveaway insurance in readiness for collection of my new car, and of course they like to quote for the full year if they can.

I thought you might like to compare and comment on the difference - most things are equal here btw, although there might be a £100 difference in the excess, same legal cover etc etc:

Current fully comp insurance on vRS Fabia estate with eSure : £260. This changes to £133 on the Citigo, if I stay with my current insurer.

However, Skoda's quote was £440. I nearly laughed down the phone, but I just said that I'd think about it...

Strange- because my Skoda quote and my current MoreThan premium differed by about a tenner.

I chose to remain with MoreThan.

skoda insurance seem very picky about who they are willing to insure, if you are not their "target market" you seem to get stupid quotes to put you off

my quote was pretty close to the mearkat quotes of what I class "well know / reputable" companies

there are some cheaper, from companies I have not heard of and if you put their names into google the results on some are not good

all manufacturer branded insurance seems only to try and rip off the very people who buy their cars instead of rewarding them for being a customer !! my own experience being that skoda quoted me £390 for my citigo (coming from a hyundai getz at £260) while my own insurer (admiral) refunded me £76 on the remainder of the years policy.go figure !!sometimes i think insurance companies just think of a number ,quote you, then knock £20 off hoping you will jjust roll over

Skoda insurance wanted £230, my own, LV, £173. However, this is only £10 less than my Fabia SDI Combi.

I was paying about £380 for a 3.6 V6 4x4 Skoda Superb, and Skoda quoted me £395 for a Citigo 75 Elegance.

Naturally I went elsewhere - and pay £220!

When I phoned up for my 7 days free cover, Skoda Insurance quoted me £312 for annual cover for my Citigo SE, with £100 voluntary excess.

RAC came in at £155 with no voluntary excess, protected no-claims bonus, one named driver and legal cover included. The cheapest offer I had was £124, but the cover wasn't as good.

I took out the Skoda insurance on my Citigo. Ok I reckon I could have got it for less but it came with full cover and RAC breakdown and replacement car like for like (1st year) should it be deemed uneconomical to repair, for what that's worth. £212 protected NCD
