DSG feels different

Featured Replies

Over the last week I've felt a difference in my 6 speed DSG VRS when changing gears  - in particular from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd (but its apparent to lesser degree in higher gears).

When it changes, it feels jerky, I can feel the car and some resistance as if changing the gear is slowing it down, where as normally you could hardly feel any change when it was going through the gears as it was so smooth. It affects how its driving and the performance feels sluggish because of it. It almost feels like the brakes are being applied as it changes. There are no dashboard lights on. Its still under warranty so I will book it in at Mitchells.

Has any one else experienced anything similar?

cheers

Matt

WHAT MILEAGE dose the car have on it,

if its at 40.000 it needs a dsg oil change

its 7k  -  I've had the car since new. however at 3.5k the dealer replaced my gearbox due to an issue with the original one.

Sounds like the Mechnatronic unit is on the way out, they can take block measurements. Its not a gearbox out job, but its still a huge job.

cheers m0bov, will see what they say when it goes in. hopefully they can rule that in out based on the measurements.

Apparently it can be something to do with the engine mounts too - if theres movement it can affect the dsg changes? I've noticed it once or twice but only in the colder weather. Seems to be fine since last October.

I read this somewhere on the forum search as I was paranoid. My car had only done 16k at the time, now its on 29k and nothings happened...touch wood!
