Horn wire routing

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've got an '08' octavia vrs tdi and there is a horn sounder behind the wheel arch liners an both the LH & RH front.

I am going to install air horns behind the LH front wing and I need to splice into the cars original wiring.

The original wires must come from the steering wheel horn buttons and split to go to the left and right sides, does anybody know where the split is located?

Thanks in advance.

Does it matter?  Just connect the air horns to the LH and junk the RH horn.

Yeah, it kind of does matter as I am going to fit a switch to enable me to switch between the original horn or the air horns so I need to be able to splice the switch in to the original wiring before the split to the left and right horns.

OK, understood.

Just looked at the Haynes wiring diagram and it doesn't help much, but does at least show the horns connected by brown wires to 'E3' and 'E4' to chassis earth points.  These earth points also serve other items e.g. E4 also serves the cigar lighter.

You could try disconnecting the horns' brown wires from these points and then wiring back to the earth points via your switch.
