Featured Replies

Hello this is my first big post on here so go easy!

So i got a fabia vrs 55 plate about 2 months ago, done a few bits and bobs like power flex front bushes, joms coilovers and ebc discs and pads.

All was going well untill about a week ago the car started to have no power at low revs (idle to about 2.5k) then the turbo seems to kick in at aboout 3 and a bit k. had a look at the egr valve bit dirty but ok, What eles can i look at or change to try and fix this problem.

any help held be great

cheers

Check for boost leak commonly on bottom hose also try the Mr muscle trick? My car seems to have gone a bit like you describe actually. Maybe thinking timing issue perhaps? Yet to get my timing checked but might as well do that with my cam belt.

Found the bend from the turbo was lose the seals are shot ordered some new ones! £12.10. Fingers crossed!

+ 1 for this type of missing power at lower revs, where before it used to really surge forward. Had my timing belt done last year, maybe that's the problem. Otherwise I thought it might be any of these: boost leak, MAF sensor, MAP sensor, fuel pump, EGR, exhaust leak, oh I don't know ...

Seems a common problem on here, I need to get car scanned for faults when I have some spare cash.

Seals changed no leak now but still no power. What should I change next?

Check the vacuum pipe going from the black box on the o/s strut top to the actuator on the turbo for any signs of splits / worn areas that may have been touching something warm.

If you have some form of vacuum tester, I.e a mityvac, then remove the pipe from the black box that goes to the actuator, and see if the actuator holds a vacuum.

If the pipe / actuator is ok, then get a diagnostic done to check for faults.

Ok will check the vacuum hose in the morning. Getting the car checked by a mate at kwik fit with there diagnostics, hopefully will bring up some codes.

Have you done a boost leak test?

Normally it's the vanes stuck in the turbo in the fully open position. So it takes an age for boost to build and when it does you get a fair whack as its on full boost.

Ok got my car test this morning. Got a code po299. Could the n75 be at fault, if so do I get a standard one or upgrade?

Check your vac pipes before replacing anything else..

Think I have found the issue Posted Image

Melted? Or rubbed against something for years?

  • Author

I think melted. Put a temp bit of vacuum hose in place now pulls like a train :) will get proper hose ordered tomorrow. Thanks to everyone that replied!

Tends to rub on the driveshaft if they aren't clipped into the TIP properly. Good find though and a cheap fix.

Mine once melted on my exhaust manifold.  Had the same symptoms and was about to say to check the vacuum pipe, but I see it's all sorted now.

Had a look at a mk5 Golf with a similar engine in today - no boost (at all), all vacuum fine, boost hoses all fine.... Looked like turbo in that case.

Thank you and good night.
