The only discount I could get was black pack mudflaps and a tank of juice maybe I'm a mug but I always go same dealer

ah ok, from chats with two dealers today there is without doubt 2k off easily available. :)

I got about £2k off, but imagine getting that AND 0%.

I really hope so! I don't think this project is going to happen without that!

Im hoping that 0% & a discount of 8% ish will be available. That'd bring my spec choice to around £300 a month, otherwise I might go back to looking at the focus ST

From what I've been told, the dealer margin is 14% and Skoda keep 6% if the customer takes the 0% finance. If this is true you will be getting it at cost if you are able to get 8%. This is the reason that the DTD offer has changed, the supplying dealer was selling at a loss.

Interesting to know thanks. I have been told (not by DTD - somebody else) to expect 4-5% discount maximum - which I would be more than happy with.

I wonder if discount might increase after the initial surge of vrs orders? I'm in no rush to order.

I got just under 5.5% on a 1.4TSI DSG Elegance Hatch with lots of extras, so I'd aim for 5% minimum.

I dont think many dealers will be selling these things at cost price; they'd at very least need to be making a 5% (say 1200 quid) margin on the new car and a bit on part ex if anything....does justifiably leave them with little useful room for manouver in a deal.

With the VAT scheme the dealers were paid their margin by Skoda UK as I understand it and they stomached the cost on the basis they'd do OK out of the finance packages.

The big issue remains....I still dont think the new car is so much nicer than the MK2 to make people rush out and change; the diesel particularly not so.
