Aussie Yeti

Featured Replies

Just returned home to Scotland after spending 6 weeks in Perth, Australia. I saw a fair amount of Yetis during my stay, in fact I saw three in the one day. My son in law drives a Jeep Wrangler but he was really impressed when he got his first glimpse of a Yeti. He's due to change his car in the near future and will certainly give some thought to a new Yeti. I drove the Jeep a couple of times but I wasn't really impressed with it. The steering was vague and imprecise and the automatic box was interesting to say the least. Anyway, now back to driving a real car.

Welcome home.  You may have missed summer, I'm afraid :whew:

You are now describing the original Range Rover.......

Glad you have a GREAT trip armayeti, and that you back safe and sound.

Have a yeti and a wrangler in my household and love both for different reasons - the yeti is very easy to drive - the wrangler less so. But I can take the roof and doors off the wrangler and take it much further offroad than I'd take the yeti - - also got much better load space in the wrangler

They are very different vehicles aimed at different markets but do what they are intended for very well

Hit the nail on the head Purdster. My son in law does a fair bit of off road driving due to the nature of his work and he feels the wrangler is pretty good in this respect. He does agree though that it's not best suited for urban driving. It wasn't warm enough for the roof and doors to be removed (it's winter in Australia) but I've seen pictures of it during the Australian summer and it looks really cool. His model could only be described as painted in luminous green and you would never have any problems finding it in a crowded car park. Forgot to say that the Yeti started first time after 6 weeks parked in my driveway.

We W.A. Yeti drivers reserve our waving for fellow Yeti drivers, so I'm sure I did not wave to you during your stay here in W.A. I do hope you enjoyed your visit and have good reason for visiting during our winter, especially as you have missed some wonderful weather in the U.K. or at least that is what has been reported.

That was my 6th visit to Australia and I've thoroughly enjoyed every trip. Driving in Perth/Fremantle areas is fairly easy with good arterial routes throughout the state. My only gripe is the merge lanes which catch you out if you are unfamiliar with the road. Fuel was around £1 a litre but everything else was really expensive. Perth is now the 10th most expensive city in the world and number one in the Southern Hemisphere. Although it was winter time, the weather was generally fine but it got quite cold at night. Apart from the long flight times, visiting Australia is a great experience.
