gear stick

Featured Replies

can somebody please tell me how come the gear stick on the felicia is so far back i struggle to put it in second gear without hitting my mrs on the leg any thing i can do to change this? thanks .

I've never found it a long way back but then I'm 6ft 4 and have the seat almost all the way back so that's probably why. I wonder could you get someone to put a bend in it to angle it forward? It's a bit too sturdy to do at home DIY I think.

At least it's your Mrs and not someone you don't know that well. You could try wearing a peaked cap and have her sit in the back.

thanks, yer i thought about doing that ill have to ask about , haha thats a good one every time i do it, she gives me a dirty look, like you said you are tall im small so im sat right up to the steering wheel

I must say I've never had that problem tbh, my mrs gives me dirty looks all the time too but that's because I'm rude and obnoxious most of the time, in fact one time we were down in Cornwall and she slammed the glovebox lid in a fit of rage and the feckin thing fell off, when we went to get a nother lid I explained this to the girl in the scrapyard which enraged her even more.

That would be a solution. Also a less sloppy gear linkage. But if I think well... it's sad for a man to have to modify his only toy for her well being. I usually draw the line when it comes to my car. If she doesn't like it, she can put the money down for a Mercedes, or if she doesn't want to walk home, at least keep her knees close. She's a lady not a hooker. So I guess that makes me obnoxious too.

My mechanic managed to sort out the same issue on my new diesel estate.

Drilled through the rivets on the engine bay end of the selector rod, and replaces with nuts and bolts. He did a sterling job, and now gear selection feels good as new, and my diesel estate has done 180k!

I have a massively sloppy gear linkage on my 1.9D estate and was going to try and track down the parts to fix it but this might be a decent alternative solution!
