Monte Carlo has been a nightmare any advice

Featured Replies

Hi all, am new to the forum and was wondering if any one has had similar problems or can give advice.

I recently traded in my fabia vrs 07 for a brand new Monte Carlo tech. So far I wish I hadn't bothered the dealer made the transaction hell for me and now I feel everything is going wrong.

Two problems I am having is one my driver seat is squeaking constantly and is only getting worse, this is driving me crazy as it is very loud. Secondly my back doors seem to be leaking as today I was getting something out the back and I noticed the seat and foot well of the driver side is soaking wet it's as if someone threw a bucket of water in the back seats and floor. Now for a new car this is just not on, obviously the squeaky seat isn't as bad as the leak but hey I spent a lot of money on this car and shouldn't it be in mint condition.

As if this isn't bad enough I got myself stuck on the kerb this morning and took a nice scrape out of my alloy. I am so pig sick right now as its my pride and joy with only 1200 miles on the clock.

I called the dealer to get the car looked at also asked about getting the alloy fixed they said to bring it in and they will see want can be done. Has anyone else had any similar problems and is it worth getting the dealer to repair the alloy. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum.

Sorry to hear your experience.

Hopefully the seat and door seal will be sorted promptly and without any messing about.

Re your wheel.

Unless they have a Body Shop it is unlikely they will be fixing your wheel,

it will go to who they use, or the Mobile Touch Up people will be coming to do it.

Get the Price Quote from them, then see if they are offering a Better Deal than going straight to a Smart Repairer or Wheel Re-furbisher yourself.

Maybe the Mobile People will come do your Wheel for the same as the Dealership are going to charge.

The Dealership might have it done along with their Trade Cars being done and not 'Charge too much' for their service..

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I hope it does get sorted quickly however my old fabia had a door leak as well this was spotted when I was buying it the fixed the seal or whatever was wrong but the damage left by the water was never repaired so there was always a water mark on the fabric on the door. So I am hoping the fix everything this time. It must be a common fault.

With he alloy am not too bothered about the price but what I don't wanna do is spend money and find that the repair does not look good. Has anyone else had an alloy refurbished on a monte or similar black alloy. Does it look like new or can you tell there's been a repair.

Thanks again.

You do not have to accept Water Damage etc due to a 'Defect in Manufacturing' that caused the fault,

So let them know the repair has to be done and the car has to have any damage repaired to as new.

If that means replacement door card or carpet, then that is what will be needed as well.

Any argument from them (Dealership) and ask them to Photograph the damage/marks and send to Skoda UK, and get your own pictures as well.

Defects are always frustrating, hopefully the dealer will sort it out quickly. Don't let it ruin your new car experience.

Don't worry I will be pestering them a lot till this is fixed not sure about my squeaky seat mind you. Not sure what's causing that unless its from all the water. No one else ever had a black alloy refurbished.

As for my new car experience I think the dealer already ruined that for me don't think I'll ever go there again to get a car.

Hi Jayne

al

I am getting a new seat base this week on a vRS.

They got in runners, but it needs the base as well.  It had stuck back at full slide.

Well first off as I was getting a number plate exchanged from one car to another I expected it to take some time however it took almost a month will little to no communication from the dealer after that they put the wrong number plate on and had to change that. Then the sales guy I was dealing with just up and 'left' in the middle of the deal meaning all the paperwork seemed to get mixed up or lost and passed on to someone else who didn't seem interested. When it was time to pick the car up I was told when to pick it up not really given a choice of when it suited me in the day as apparently I was putting the gay out having to come in on his day off. I was told to bring my driving licence in but he failed to tell me I needed both parts so that cause all sorts of problems after all that went to sign the finance agreement was all wrong and I ended up waiting an hour to get the new one but it never came so they made me sign the wrong one with an agreement to come in the next day to sign the correct one. Sorry for ranting but you did ask.

So as you can see all in all it's been an unpleasant experience.

you rant as much as you want , uv plenty to rant about ,that all sounds like a rite balls up ..Name and shame this crowd of tools.

It was the west end garage in sighthill Edinburgh. He even had the cheek to tell me to give them an excellent review in the survey that gets sent to you when you buy a car. Safe to say I never gave them a good review.

Good lad glad you had the swingers to name and shame this crowd. I feel your pain man i have been in this position before with car dealers but for some reason we just cant tell them to ram there deal up there a*se, its because we want the car so much we dont do this. Its unfortunate but most of the time we have to deal with bell ends to get nice cars especially when we go back with a problem. good luck man dont let them grind you down, when your car is sorted you will enjoy it, its a great wee car with loads of personality but dont take it back from that crowd until its like brand new again even new door cards and carpet if must.

I really agree with sk4gw , sit down and write a letter or email to skoda U.K and tell them your crap experience you had with the dealers and the problems with a "new" car.  :wall:

You can get a black alloy refurbed to look good as new, it depends how bad it is and how much you want to spend. Unless it was really nasty I wouldn't do much more than a basic touch up to seal it so it doesn't start corroding or bubbling as it's bound to happen in day to day driving a little bit. I shrug off minor kerbing these days, life's too short.

Hi i agree life is to short but the car is all but brand new and if it was me i would want it fixed or a new wheel because if its not done 100% its all you will see when you look at your nice new car ..

Yeah it's a tough one, but the everyday knocks have to start sometime! It should be fairly easy to touch up so it's not obviously noticeable, easier than getting silver done.

O.c.d I feel the same its just so new am not quite ready to let the minor bumps ect happen already. The service department called this morning and am going in tommorow morning to have it looked at. They said the alloy can be sent away if its bad or touched up at the dealer so I guess thats just upto me and how much I wanna spend. As for the leak he informed me they will have a look but could take a while to get to the bottom of the leak. So what im just meant to continue leaving the car out in this awful rain and let more water leak in untill they get round to fixing it. Arg feel like am banging my head off a wall.

"Catch 22 " situation comes to mind. unfortunately your going to have to hand over your car to these knuckle heads to see if they can fix a new car ...fix a new car that sounds stupid but as i said your in a catch 22 situation .good luck man, give them ****. keep us informed ... :wall:  :@

Exactly how I feel. Dont worry am not planning on taking this lying down. Thanks for your support tho. I'll let you know how I get on tommorow.

I've just had three of my Monte alloys touched up over the weekend (paint not Saville).  John on here put me onto a local chap, and that was £40 a wheel, which is better than the dealers quote.

Does sound a good price but am in falkirk so that not a bit far. How do they look after a touch up?

I had a rear door leak on carpets and all on an 11 plate was down to the door not seated properly after adjustment sorted took half a day. If you want a new wheel about £130

Was there any lasting damage to seats and carpets from getting wet. Thats what am worried about marks of a smell being left behind after repair. Was thinking if alloy was close to that price to repair I might just get a new one and keep the other as a spare. Was tginkibg of getting a spare anyway.

Thanks for your feedback
