Clear up my confusion :)

Featured Replies

Hi guys

There are a couple of things I could do with some info.

Does the new vrs have a 6 cd multi changer?

I hire audio books from the library, so this is handy.

How well does the MDI mitsumi work. I currently use aux to my iPhone and use the Audible app, would this work through MDI?

And lastly, are the new headlights adaptive, so corner as you do?

Thanks

Gwyn

Hi Gwyn

I dont think it has a cd changer at all. I havent spotted it on any of the new octavias ive test driven (estate and hatch) and havent seen anything in brochures either.

Havent tried the mdi cable yet but have one ordered. However bluetooth works nicely if that helps?!

No idea on the headlights sorry

As standard no CD changer... one cd load slot in glove box with a single SD card slot.

With regards to MDI it will work (just buy the right lead depending on your iPhone). You should be able to control iphone through unit (I don't have one but that is how its suppose to work).

From August brochure "The Octavia vRS features Bi-Xenon lights with AFS and LED daytime running lights as standard". The AFS is the cornering bit.

I'm going to be labelled mr pedant here but I thought the Bolero unit includes a 6 CD changer in the dash - at least the old Bolero did.

Also corner lights are slightly different to AFS. AFS changes the shape of the beam according to the road speed and weather conditions. There is then 'bend lighting' Skoda's term that directs the beams in the direction of the steering. The Octavia II facelift xenons turn to suit steering but aren't AFS even if the brochure says so. There is a difference in the light units that needs a shutter which was included in the Superb but n

...not the Octy. I was quite cheesed off when I realised.

Thanks guys for all your help. I'm really disappointed to hear that there is no multi changer!!!

I'm not too bothered about the other things but in my situation, the multi changer is a must!!! Can't believe they would do away with it.

might be a bit of a pita for your specific issue with the audio books but if you have the sd card slot as above and a computer it should be fairly easy to copy them across to the sd card. HTH

I also believe the 6 cd changer is still with the bolero up

The bolero has the cd deck in the glove compartment, it's a fairly large unit but the dealer couldn't confirm if it took more than one cd.

No, its just for one single disc. But you could use USB or sd-cards instead. It's a little bit more work, but you can hear it again after you brought the cds back. ;)

Why not use Windows Media Player and just Rip the CD's to a memory stick / card ?

Yes - a 16Gb or 32Gb SD card will hold far, far more than 6 CDs ever could- if you are worried about audio quality then rip the CDs to a lossless format (ogg or equivalent rather than MP3) - I personally use highest quality MP3 and it is good enough for me (at least in the car - at home is a totally different story  )

Not too fussed about the quality to be honest and I already use an SD card for all my music, I just like the changer as it saves me time. I do like the idea of ripping the CDs for keeping.

Welcome to the 22 Century. CD changer..... :giggle:  The cd player that comes with Bolero has mp3 player. So really.... Cant see why you need a CD Changer for listening to to audiobooks. One disk you can have 10 books or more. You will never need a CD Changer, trust me.

Lol, maybe you didn't read my original post. I hire audio books from the library which come on cd.

I know I can convert them but due to work hours and the amount of mileage I do, I pop into town first thing, load up the cd's and away to go. It's not a huge problem but is just nice and easy.

I just hope these CDs don't have protection on them.
