Tyre pressure Sensors

Featured Replies

Deffinately work.

Message came on maxi dot yesterday on way home from work to check rear left tyre pressure.

15 psi.

Couldn't find anything in the tyre so filled up with air only to find that any movement of the valve caused air to come out!

10 minutes in kwik fit today and a new valve fitted (Old one must have been duff from the factory as it's only 2 weeks old).

First car I've had with this feature, thought it was a gimmick but impressed.

I have tried to set my pressure, but I dont get any confirmation.

I have an elegance, is it standard??

It was a real pain on my pug 407 as whenever you changed a tyre, you would have to spend a couple of days getting the pressure right!!

I have an elegance and I didn't spec this as an option so assume it's standard.

The only confirmation I had was a brief message on the screen saying that all pressures were stored.  Which menu are you going through?

Totally different system to Peugeots which cost you £100+ for a new sensor every time a tyre was changed....until you got fed up with it and had it removed via odbc software.

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe the tyre pressure monitor on these cars doesn't actually monitor the tyre pressures, if is the same system as Audi and BMW use it works by comparing rotational speed of the wheels, a deflated tyre has a higher rotational speed due as the outside diameter of a deflated tyre is smaller so it rotates faster. Wheel spin can give a false alarm of low tyre pressure as a result. I don't think Skoda use the Beru system where pressure measuring sensors are fitted inside the tyre, part of the valve assembly, that do actually measure tyre pressures and give a digital read out on the in dash display. This is a far superior, and more expensive system and the one that Ferrari, Mercedes and Porsche use. The downside is the sensor units in the wheels need replacing approx every 5 years when the sealed in batteries expire. They don't need replacing when tyres are replaced however but you need to carefully select a tyre fitter that won't damage the units when removing the tyres. Beru do sell the system as an after market option. This system doesn't need resetting after a puncture only if you actually change wheel size or tyre type as the preset pressure values might be different.

@ Sheldon.Cooper and wantaskoda yes TPMS is standard on the Elegance - it doesn't display pressures because it doesn't measure pressures see above!
