Coil overs which 1s?

Featured Replies

Hi looking at lowering my vrs on coil overs out of the budget 1s (jom, fk ak, prosport)which are best there all around the £200 mark

Prosport and jom both come with a warranty 2 years for jom and 5 years with prosport anybody ever tried to claim on this?? Will be fitting them myself will this void that warranty??

Fitted my joms yesterday, seem great to me.

Its all much muchness at that end of the market, plenty have had mullered coilovers after a year or so for what I've read with the joms. I guess if they will repair/replace them and you're in the position where your car being off the road isnt an issue then it's ok considering the money.

Personally, a little more cash and I'd be looking at AP's or V-maxx kits, massive improvement in ride quality and build quality while still not breaking the bank.

As they say, pay your money and make your choice

As above.

If you can save up for better quality items they will be cheaper in the long run as they last. My eibach pro street coilover are perfect after 80 k miles and not even a spot of rust on them.

He would have to save up quite alot more to get eibach coilovers! :)

AP's have a great rep and there's a thread further down where Awesome Gti and DPM are both offering them for £369 posted.

Are the budget ones that bad?? Loads of ppl seem to run them without any problems just wondering really how much they differ and which where the best out of them. If there that bad and AP are gunna be much better and last then maybe there worth it the long run how long do these tend to last??

There's more to it than how long they last. The ride on a decent set of coilovers will be far better.

The lower you want to go the better qualiy you should invest in to keep as much comfort as possible ;)

Alot of the moans and groans are from people with "cheaper" kits and slamming the car on them

My JOM's are as high as they will go (well rear and front to match) and they are ****.

Just bought some AP's so will be interesting to see how they compare.

Lol. Out of interest do the Jom's list the spring rate at all?

I remember the days when the ap's where classed as the cheapo ones. But back then weitec a were only £400 and KW were £600.

Jom and pro sport are 1 and the same

and that = ACE. if you want standard height ride, you wont get it! if you want cheap warrateed fun, better handling and big buck bangs - jom/prosprt FTW

Won't be slamming it just after better handling And less arch space

I'd be interested to see if Jom offer more fun and grip on a bumpy B road. I can't see it personally.

£200 for suspension means £50 per corner. That's the price of a standard shock.

I mean compared to standard.

much better than standard suspension for handling

Many hate joms and love theyre brands

but just as many cant afford brands and love theyre joms

Be assured, your handling WILL improve

I've got JOMs and I'm not stupidly low but it is low and I think the ride is alright. I was worried about them because people write on here How bad they are but it doesn't feel any worse than other lowered car I've had and I've had premium suspension on other cars. My dad normally moans when I do stuff to my cars but he said it felt no bumpier than his 911 around town and motorway. I've done 10k with mine and they seem fine so I'd recommend them, yes they can be bumpy but I can live with it doing 2000+ miles a month so they're not spine shattering
