Car covered in ants . . .

Featured Replies

. . . Went out to the Fabia earlier this evening only to see the car covered in loads ants, probably 80 to 100. No idea why they are on there, never keep anything on or near the car like food or drink. Looked all over it and didn't see how they were getting onto the car. Never seen it before today. Any ideas?

Bet you've got a nest in the car !

They don't see colors the way we do. Bright colors are known to attract some insects & there are some colors they cannot see. Professionals take advantage of all factors-including this. Flies

Damn i think my Fabia is fitted with 15" Antares alloys!!!!!!!! :)

That's well weird though.

Bbc news the other day had a pic of a swarm of bees on top of a post box, apparently using it as a staging post to regroup before they lead the queen to the new nest.i wonder if it could be something like that going on???

If it was flying ants I wouldn't have worried but these were just normal ants.

SJ.... Believe it or not I had exact same thing this aft while washing car

Loadsa ants drawn to the white roof.

Flying ones these tho but some had a smaller one sat on its back.all over the washing too but only on the bright colours

Musta been something going off in the ant world today our feeble minds can't grasp. :)

We're just human slaves in an insect nation.

We're just human slaves in an insect nation.

Or in your case "goat slaves in an insect nation" :)

Where did we all go wrong?
The insects used to be our brothers.
Along came pesticide,
And on that day, our friendship died.
And pouring boiling water down ants' nests, couldn't've 'elped

Don't tell anyone, but, well, I'm not really a goat, see.

It's a boring in-joke from my best man's speech at my wedding.

Anyway, enough OT.  Ants are highly social creatures so my guess is either there was something to eat there, which has now gone, or they were escorting a queen which subsequently flew off.

How'd you know they're 'normal' ants? Did you get 'em tested   Bet you didn't even get a pic of an ant in a wheelchair, did you?  :giggle:
