Airbag light help needed

Featured Replies

I've just replaced both front seatbelts after a small accident triggered the pre-tensioners, on a Y Reg Fabia 1.4MPi I've just rebuilt. I have a Vgate Scan diagnostics tool. The error code won't cancel. Both seatbelt errors keep coming up, along with:

Control Unit Failure/Internal Control Module Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error or power supply voltage B+

Anybody know what that means, and what I can do about it?

Thanks in advance.

Can I assume by the complete lack of response then, that nobody has a clue?

It would be helpful if you posted a full VCDS scan with the error codes logged. Have you replaced the airbag ECU?

It's a saturday, the weather's nice, it's holiday time, not everybody has time to answer or respond straight away and remember, you're using the free verion so please have a little patience :)

Hi DGW and thanks for answering. No I haven't. Is the airbag ECU different from the general ECU? If so, where is it located please?

leepatrick01, I made that comment as lots and lots of posts had been made since my post, so there were plenty of people online. Are you suggesting if I was a paid member, I would get more, and faster responses? If so, where do I sign up?

Depending on specification the Fabia some 8 or more control modules (computers) controlling various systems, eg engine, ABS, air con, central electrics and of course the airbag. There is discussion in the first thread below as to whether or not the airbag control unit needs replacing after a crash and if the crash data can be erased by a specialist firm. The second thread details where the control unit is and how to remove it.

I think you need to seek specialist advice on the way ahead.

Hi Denis

That's brilliant information. Many thanks. Looks like I'll need a new Airbag ECU then. Not the end of the world.

Thanks again.
