Some PID Observations/Questions

Featured Replies

Got my Citigo Sport last week (see earlier picture) and I have a few observations and questions about the Move and Fun PID device.

When attaching it to my car the initial comment from the sales guy was that it looked different from earlier models as the buttons around the side were not the same.  Indeed when I opened the user manual contained within the device I was presented details for a different model.  Mine is branded Garmin and not Navigon as per the manual.

After a bit more research it seems this is the later version as Garmin have taken over Navigon.  Link can be found here under the support section https://skoda.garmin.com/skoda/

I am able to charge my device via the car connection however it does not seem to charge when connected to my PC via the supplied USB lead.  When I connect it to the mains via a usb plug it shows one of the battery symbols displaying the ! character.

According to the manual this means The device is mounted in the vehicle and is being supplied with power from the vehicle. The battery cannot be charged because its temperature is too high or too low’.  Anyone else had this problem?

Also it stated that max size for micro SD card is 32 GB, but has anyone tried a 64 GB SD card?

Thanks

So you were given a Garmin unit with a Navigon manual?,thats handy!.As for your charging problems sounds like the unit needs a reset/reboot.

Navigon are part of Garmin -I did here rumor that there was a new PID coming -be interesting to see exactly what the differences are .

The reset/reboot seems to have done the trick.

Holy thread revival batman!

Picked up my elegance today and was wondering about charging the PID.....

Will it charge from a powered USB socket? (PC, PS3, back of a TiVo box etc)

Any help would be great, thanks

Yes will charge with these ok. I've done it myself and all was well :)

It will charge OK from USB, however i recommend you plug it into the car for a while first to get a bit of juice in it, as mine had a flat battery out the box, which meant it kept turning on and off when connected over USB.

Thanks for your help guys.

I have a Garmin edge for cycling and the plug charger from that seems to do the job as well.

Just going to try and wrestle some music on to a SD card for it now, will read the instruction manual for that one.....honest

64GB SD cards rarely work well in anything - phones, satnavs, whatever.  32GB is really the upper limit for compatibility.

I can even update mine as I have a Chromebook - not compatible! Seriously thinking of  getting a Windows laptop.
