Charge Pressure Control

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently got a vag-com cable, so I ran the s/w, and it reported back with the following for my Octavia 2001 110 TDi estate:

VAG-COM Version: Release 303.1

Control Module Part Number: 038 906 012 CL

Component and/or Version: 0000SG 3316

Software Coding: 00002

Work Shop Code: WSC 31480

Additional Info: TMBGP21U512486883 VWZ7Z0Y3096563

1 Faults Found:

17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation

P1557 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

VAG-COM Version: Release 303.1

Control Module Part Number: 1U0 920 910 F

Component and/or Version: KOMBI+WEGFAHRSP VDO V05

Software Coding: 07412

Work Shop Code: WSC 24059

Additional Info: TMBGP21U512486883 VWZ7Z0Y3096563

2 Faults Found:

00779 - Outside Air Temp Sensor (G17)

30-10 - Open or Short to B+ - Intermittent

My questions are what is the charge pressure control and does it affect performance / etc? and the same for the outside air temp. Also where are these things located on the car so that I can have a look for a short, etc.

Cheers,

Matt

googling around it suggests p1557 is related the MAF, which I had replaced by Skoda only about a month ago when the car had no power. It has to be said that when I then drove the car, it seemed much better, but then subsequently I thought the performance was dropping - hence the recent investiment in the vag com cable.

I assume that if I clear the code, and then drive the car, if the MAF is faulty then the code should return?

Spot on Matt. From what I gather the signs and symptoms for a failed MAF on a TDI are different from that of a petrol. You should notice a loss of performance. If you clear the codes re the MAF then they will re-appear if the ECU notices continuing problems. Keep a note of the intermittent fault, though, as that might not pop back on instantly even if the underlying problem remains unresolved.

Thanks... will reset it now and keep an eye on it.... I assume if it reappears then I can say that the garage supplied me with a faulty MAF unit.....

It may well not have anything to do with the MAF. That fault can also be stored if the turbo is sticking. This will be evident if the car suddenly looses power and flicking the ignition on and off sorts it out.
