forge tip? what difference will i feel if any?

Featured Replies

hi all, ive got a octy 4x4 on a remap from r tech, no mods on car atm apart from remap.. my question is what will a forge tip do? will it give me any more bhp or torqe?

thanks all

Forge tip is very similar to the standard one thats in there. Go for the Big bore one from SFS. Its better price and opens up the Rev range by quite a bit!

I fitted one to a Revo stage 1 Mkiv Golf Anniversary, & other than it looks better than the OEM tip I honestly couldn't say it had any percievable performance increase. Some people claim better throttle response. :wonder:

Forge is better than eBay ones or Creations ones. SFS oversize are better than Forge ones (in terms of flow). This is a Forge vs cheapy comparison taken by R-Tech...

Sorry if this sounds stupid.......But what does 'tip' stand for and what benefits would say a Forge one have over an OE?

Turbo Intake Pipe, allows for better flow/more air/faster entry.

TIP = turbo inlet pipe. The OEM pipe has a restrictive bend on the metal section, & there are instances where the OEM pipe has collapsed on the corrugated section.

badger 5 does some decent wide tips too iirc which have been proven with a hybrid to run over 300bhp!

I've replaced the metal part of the tip with a abd large bore pipe would I gain anything by replacing the whole tip with a silicon one?

A large bore ko3s tip (bigger than forge at 70mm) will make a big difference!

Try 12bhp and 15lb/ft?

R-tech have a batch of these just in I believe?

When I fitted a std forge tip to my (then) stage 2 car it only made a slight difference at the top end,it was barely noticeable, the car held power slightly longer.

It never seemed worth ringing the cars neck to "get at" the extra power,if it was ever there that is! I never did a before and after on a dyno or anything!

If I could do it again though I would have still got a silicone tip because the std OEM tip is not as durable imo!

Louder turbo noise and increased throttle response is what I noticed

Ha, that's funny. My DV was quieter with a forge TIP on the standard airbox.

Hi guys

wil that oversized turbo accept my 3" MAF from 225HP  engine?????

Iirc the big beefy one is designed for the bigger maf :)

Rob was on about a group buy, but it does need to be made extended or such

Clive the toad can sort the correct fitting ones too

You have to ask for it to be made up to take 3 inch maf

You also need to know what CIA there using or airbox and order correct ones ;-)

But what do I know lol

Can supply at cheapest price if you order 1 or 100;-)

How much are these things ?

Not sure what it means (in blue)

CAI-cold air intake??

It doesn't count. Only what matters is 2.75 or 3" MAF, all before mAF hasnothing to do with  TIP I think

It's wether you need extension on pipe or not

Turbo>TIP>MAF>Airbox/CAI

my CAI needed a silicone coupler to reach the MAF
