Sods law after new Octavia II today.

Featured Replies

We have run a Fabia 1.2 for nearly 5 years, with no problems.

My wife found it increasingly uncomfortable on long journeys, of which we are doing more, now that we are retired.

So we decided to splash out on a more comfortable Octavia Elegance.

She really wanted one in Pacific Blue with cream interior. Suffice to say that our dealer couldn't find one anywhere, unless we bought brand new. But that seemed a bit extreme, so we settled for an eleven month old, 16.000 mile one, with dark interior, in Grey.

We are pleased as punch with the car and picked it up this morning.

About a mile down the road from the dealer, there is a very nice fish and chip shop, so as we were feeling a bit peckish by then, decided to celebrate with said fish and chips. We really do know how to party!!

I went in to buy them and when I came back into the car park, parked right next to us was an ........Octavia II, Laurin & Klement, in Pacific Blue, with cream interior. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I spoke to the owner, who had bought it 3months ago at a non-Skoda dealer. It was 6 months older than ours, when he bought it, but only had 8,000 miles on and cost only £1500 more. The garage had made a mistake, but that was his gain.

But if that isn't 'sods law' working at its most annoying, I don't know what is!!!!!!!!

I have to agree Chronicbint!!!!!

Never mind.

You get most of the useful L&K features in the Elegance anyway. I might replace my Fabia with an Octavia at some point, and I'd be more than happy with Elegance spec. I'm not entirely sure the L&K spec is worth the extra cost over an Elegance.....you only gain leather seats, electric memory drivers seat and Xenon headlights. I would miss Leather and Xenon's, but I'd miss the £1000 in additional asking price even more!

Although your car is not the colour you would have liked, I think it looks particularly good in that shade of Grey.

In my opinion grey looks much nicer than blue so well done on your choice.

Do'n forget to change your sig too.......

Already (thought I'd) sent a reply to this post, but obviously did something wrong.

skodanorman....We're not too disappointed, but it was a bit galling to say the least. Thanks for the link to fuelly, have signed up already.

booke23....Thanks for your support and run down of the difference in spec of the L&K. We never actually were looking at them anyway. Out of our pocket range.

curleybar....Thanks for your thoughts too. My sig has to do with my motorcycling days (still continuing) when I rode flat twin BMWs.

My friends seemed to think that if there was ever a problem I would always go to the carbs first, as they were easily accessed, at the back of each sticking out cylinder.

Made me feel better about my camera misshap today, quality story carbman. Glad your still chuffed with the new motor HTD!

Thanks FUBAR. For the benefit of us OAPs what is HTD?

Grey's always a popular colour too so will help when you change next time. The interior will be easier to keep clean too so all in all I'm sure you'll be very pleased.

Happiness Through Drinking....great story BTW Carbman, that would be my luck. Given up on doing anything right with cars!

Always the way. Thought you were going to say you'd bought it, then saw the EXACT one you were looking for on sale!

That's happened to me before. But if you kept waiting, you'd never end up buying anything would you? :D
