I live in Mansfield as well, is it the bulb failure warning light that's coming on or the glow plug light?

I'm in Loughborough, so we could meet up somewhere one evening next week if that helps.

By coil light do you mean the cylinder pre-heaters light? On my Fabia diesel that gets used for other things besides the cylinder heaters. Might be worth checking to see if you have a brake light bulb out.

it flashes quite random though, not all the time.

I have an unregitered cable, but can at least read and clear codes.
