It's a bit heavy as it's running the 4x4 Haldex system, but performance is still quite brisk.

The newer haldex is quite effective too, it doesn't wait for the wheels to spin first.

Swerve and it's in, right away for stability and balance.  Good bit of kit.

This is mine at Castle Combe, two months old with just 4,000 miles on the clock.

Only mod is a tuning box. (not that good, it's quicker now with a remap)

Quick enough for daily use? :)

You can always have a ride in mine if you like, I'm only in Essex.

The plan to buy is far away as I want to save the money for the deposit to lower my montly payments plus my wife hates us being on any kind of debt. So I need to do everything I can to pay as little as possible every month.

BriSkoda and its members is the only place where you can actually find the support and all you need...Where on earth would find someone offering a ride to (amlost) a stranger.

Really appreciate that and glad I'm a member...!!!!

I ran the tuning box to test it, after 2000 miles I binned it and remapped via Jabbasport which was quicker and smoother.

Worse case scenario, Skoda just refuse a claim if they can prove the remap caused it. (flipant maybe, but a risk I take)

Now on 26k miles, 18 months old.  Heavy towing and three track days.  Seems like a strong engine.

If you are looking at the total cost I'd say wait for the Facelift to come out and buy used, say 12/18 months old as the facelift will probably effect the used market.  Or new and hopefully used values will remain strong.

Yetis are typically bad buys second hand at the moment as they hold value far too well.  I wouldn't buy one currently, new makes more sense.

Octy mk2 cars with the same oily bits make used Yetis look overpriced.

My Mum just traded in her two year old Yeti with 23k on the clock for a new one, same spec, same engine, same options.

Cost £5k to upgrade to a brand new one same as the old one other than a different metallic colour.

Sorry, but I can't see the cost to change on an Octavia being £5k after two years...  good cars that they are.

I guess I'll have to be patient and wait until next year to become the owner of brand (o almost) new Skoda...Yeti or Octavia...

Still cant see any real need for these 4x4 cars in the majority of cases, they mostly suck ass, true story.

Nice to see a reasoned opinion. :D

For me:

Higher towing capacity.

Better traction in poor weather and off the line.

Higher exit speeds of corners. (I do track it)

Better car weight balance with rear drive.

Penalties are:

Higher kerb weight.

Around 3 or 4 less MPG.

No car suits everyone though, but as I said... Good input. ;)
