What can you fit in yours?

Featured Replies

Moved in with the missus 7 weeks ago. She came from London with 2 full Luton vans. I came from Leicester with 2 full Octavia Hatchbacks...

Only thing that didn't fit was the BBQ and that was largely due to not trying since I did the "I haven't opened this since last year, I wonder if I cleaned it before I......oh....." ;-)

really didn't think it would fit but I was wrong - actually managed to fit my wife's bum in.

Mind you, I do have the estate :)

15 packs of 3 4ftx 1ft loft flooring panels. Was very worried by all the speed bumps near our road

Enough gear for 5 people to go download festival for 6 days. Oh and the 5 people. It was a squeeze, but I found out what my motor looks like lowered!

I have had a two seat sofa in the back of mine once. Really love the load lugging capacity of the Octavia.

Same here.

Ikea were very surprised when I turned up with it in the back of my car.

I'm patiently waiting for GentleGiant's response which will be something along the lines of ' I once got a 12, YES 12!!! foot dining table in the back of my (insert car here) PLUS 56 tower PC's which I repaired and reinstalled with software overnight AND sixteen YES! 16!!! potential Russian brides.

It's OK, he won't see this since he ignored me :D

Just found the photo... (I'll argue its still relevant as it follows on from my Octy loads, and you can see my wife's Fabia in the picture!)

Three stacked trooley from Ikea Cov.

One superking malm bed, with mattresses, three pax wardrodes with loads of internal fittings, several mirrors, loads of the sorts of stuff you didn't intend top buy.  Most but not all went in.

We went because we had just heard our offer on this house had been accepted.  Turned out to be discount tuesday or whatever.  Plus a sale and with our family card thing we "saved"  a few hundred £££.

It was also school holidays.  The oiks were out in force.  Kicking footballs through the showrooms, clogging up the cafeteria and worst of all blocking the lifts.  We ended up jambed in one. Fortunately we had a "coworker" in the lift too, so he knew what to do and we were only stuck for 20 mins or so.

Which meant we arrived in the carpark after 7.30.  No one there.  We spent a while trying all the permutations, but she was right, it didn't all go in, whatever we did, we ended up with a trolley full spare.

We found the lockers, but no keys.  Di travelled up to Cusserve, usual no help and wrong info.  This took quite a while as the idiots were still messing with the lifts.  Eventually a car park attendant was found and he was helpfulness itself.  Sorted out a lock (with key!) Collected next am, all fine.

Or would have been.  Several weeks later when this had been transported to Norfolk, I am trying to assemble said bed, because the sleeping bags had lost their allure, only to find one set of slats, no fixing kit and a hole punched neatly through the outside of the footboard.  Picked and stacked by Ikea staff.  But they did manage to sort their social calender.

From Norfolk, the nearest Ikea is MK.  WHAT a JOKE.  Promised delivery for tuesday, NO show. Loads of waffle and the promise of delivery by the end of the week.  Baw licks!  "We'll come collect"

"OK we'll have it ready"

And was it?

Course not!!!

That took 6 hours, on top of the travel.  We heard one guy tell the woman who was actually trying to help us a flat "NO" when asked if he would go pick the stuff.

In the end a very harrased coworkermanager spent two hours chasing up our stuff.  He kept blaming the 3rd party firm that did the transport.

And MK is still the pits.  Would it hurt to have a few useful signs?

So what is it with cusserve and Ikea?  Are workers there treated like poo?  Too often the attitude is "I'll finish my conversation, then I'll deal with your interference later".

Woops, a bit OT rant there.

Large lurcher, his dogbed plus 2 large sacks of dog food, bale of hay, strimmer, chainsaw and deck off tractor mower...

oh and 2 suitcases.

No photo - sorry.
