vRS Ride Height.

Featured Replies

Hi..

Does anyone know what the stock vRS ride height is suppost to be?

And also what are peoples opinions on how much to lower it by?

Ive just put some weitecs on to replace the **** racelands (which turned out to be racelands on the front, and FK dampers on the back bizzarely the weitec dampers have less travel then the FK dampers.)

Apart from some minor left-right adjustments im not sure what to set the ride height to in relation to front-rear. As an example the attached pic is with the rears at the top of their adjustment.

That is all!

if you slam it you will need to sort the front drop links out as they are not right length and drive shaft hits the rollbar.go for about 35-40 mm less than standard and have slight more drop say 10mm on the front to help keep weight on front of car to help stop understeer.dont go mad though.all this dump it on the floor is daft if you want to drive it day to day in comfort.have set up cars for tarmac rallying, sprints and trackdays for years now and on the floor is a show thing not a nice quick daily driver.

I thought the vrs anti roll bar set up was different ?

Its the mk4 golfs that hit isnt it ?

vrs do not have this Drivershaft/ARB problem.   :)

If your happy where its sat tho mate :)

As said grab some 17 inch spiders

mine has the different drop links like the mk4 golf so if I go low I would have problems with the arb.found out when getting new drop links for mine that some vrs have the mk4 golf set up not the normal skoda set up.

Weird ? What year is it bud ? A vrs in assuming ?

All mk1 vrs have the arb that goes under the driveshaft and then via droplink to the strut ,so going low won't cause a problems :)

Could someone along the line put a mk4 set up on marcevs72's ?

Your pic is a good height and balance between front and rear, always best to have front slightly nose down. I have had Weitec GT's and went very low and the ride was not that good, I now have KW and car is a lot lower than yours. so maybe a tad lower with your weitecs if you want  but your looks good to me.

Not true,  VRS do not have the std VW golf  ARB bar set up that is a hooped bar over drive shaft. VRS has the same as Audi TT,S3, Golf R32 with Drop links attached from FARB to Strut and not wishbone to ARB  , no clearance issues or hitting with the VRS set up with Weitecs..

mine has the different drop links like the mk4 golf so if I go low I would have problems with the arb.found out when getting new drop links for mine that some vrs have the mk4 golf set up not the normal skoda set up.

Then someone has changed yours, No VRS was sold with a STD skoda octavia or VW Golf ARB set up.

Think you need to rephrase "Normal Skoda set up" as "normal Skoda set up" is like saying normal VW Golf set up. The VRS is not normal Skoda set up it is unique as per above statement buddy

The fact your seems different is another question...

I got a vrs farb lurking somewhere lol

i do agree with 1 thing he said..  slamming a car, you loose handling.  BUT...  If you do supporting mods and set the car up well using quality components, you can make a slammed car handle well.

i would of thought with his rallying tarmac experience, he would of already known this.

I prefer d**khead low but cos that's what i am lol,it's impractical, pretty annoying on some journeys and the car is looking wrecked as a result of driving this height but i love it and its a small price to pay :)

my car has the mk4 golf set up for some reason that skoda cannot fathom.its a 52 plate vrs has full dealer history as well.in the process of replacing all the front end with new uprated bushes, wishbones, droplinks and h&r arb front and rear etc so getting the right parts for it.and yes I do know how to set up a tarmac car after my years of driving and going silly low doesn't work unless your on a track.normal tarmac stages etc are a lot bumpier than you think.
my last 2 impreza's ran about 45mm lower than standard with all the supporting mods.a bit of travel makes it a lot nicer to drive fast across country instead of banging and crashing everywhere.lol
I have also had a few cars dumped on the floor,my last mk1 golf gti clipper sat silly low but looked so good...bloody awful to drive though !

i loved the prodrive set up on my old classic scoob... that thing was mental!   the only car i have never lowered!

Yeah on your car................... ,

1 in the garage too :D
