how can you tell if a gearbox has a lsd?

Featured Replies

Have someone selling a vrs gearbox which he has been told has a lsd. How can I find out for certain?

Both PTO's should turn together

If gearbox off car guess you could turn pto using breaker bar and suitable spline socket

You'll leave 11's and not a 1

Spin one of the shafts and the other one should spin in the same direction if it has an lsd in it. If it spins in the opposite direction it has an open diff

It will be aaaaaaaawesome !!!!!

Thinking, since I am doing this, might as well upgrade the clutch. Looking at the vr6 sach one.

Will I need the g60 fly wheel?

Mine has an LSD and I think when you turn one wheel, the other one moves the other way?  I don't recall exactly.

Basically if you turn ONE side the OTHER side will also turn one way or the other.  An open diff will not.

Why is one http://compare.ebay....&ff14=65&ff19=0

£179

And another http://compare.ebay....&ff14=65&ff19=0

£352!?

Both from darkside

The first link is clutch only (over £100 more than you can get it elsewhere).

The 2nd link includes the flywheel.

Yes to use the vr6 clutch you will need a G60 (or ABF is the same) flywheel

I have seen them on ebay for around £90 used. If it worth touching a used one? Sorry, I don't know much about clutches.

I bought a used flywheel (generally a used single mass fly will be fine to use so long as it doesn't have any massive hot spots or cracks in it).

I would never buy a clutch or flywheel from Techniclutch, too many people have been ripped off by them over the years.

I paid:

£25 for my used G60 flywheel from facebook

£62 including delivery for my genuine sach's vr6 clutch kit from carparts4less

£14 for the 6 new flywheel bolts from ebay

£2.75 iirc for the new clutch cover bolts from TPS

first Techniclutch link will be fine, quite a few people are rocking it including myself and its all good and i drive like a *****.

forget the 2nd link that be ****e lol

Anything from techniclutch that claims to be uprated is just painted red. I have fitted their normal branded stuff for people though and anything with a brand name on it appeared to be genuine.

I have heard in the past that people have bought and paid for branded stuff, only for it to arrive with another name or no name at all on it.

Maybe things have changed, but I personally would avoid especially as you can buy it all elsewhere cheaper if you look for it.

I do agree about there "uprated" range, just being painted red though.

to be fair i only took the risk as it was 25% off so i got it even cheaper. and they did send me a valeo clutch by mistake :giggle: but collected and redelivered with no arguments in the space of 3days,so top job in my book.

and lets be honest we only ever want to hear the bad reviews :giggle: so my experience was a good one

so that darkside £375 price is very much far fetched.

TPS quoted me £131.99 + vat for a new G60 flywheel including the surcharge that I would have to pay for not returning the old unit as I didn't have 1.

So based on that, yes £375 is a p155 take.
