Quickest/easiest way to paint calipers

Featured Replies

Morning guys, just wondering what's the quickest/easiest way to paint the calipers, not looking for an immaculate job, just want them to look a bit better than they are now ready for VW festival next weekend, like I say I'm not looking for a perfect job just want to make them look tidier than now as the paints all faded.

I just go over mine with a wire brush then paint away. You'll need 2 coats more than likely (more if its red) then start at one corner then keep working round, I find that by the time I'm back at the one I started its time for coat number 2 :)

spray paint or hammerite matey? :)

I cleaned mine with some brake cleaner and Fairy liquid, dried them then put a coat of Hammerite on them with a brush. Saves the hassle of masking up when using spray cans. What colour are you going for?

Might be a dumb idea but maybe try cut/polish them instead?

Wire brush then paint on hammerite ;)..

U only really need to paint the bits you see.

See u at VW fest ill be there sunday in show + shine :)

fancy a couloir change while I'm on mate

Wire brush, sand paper and 3 thick coats of hammerite in a pot added my a small paint brush :) cheap and easy! about £8 i think and takes about a day to properly do and let dry. post-103034-0-95685900-1375960556_thumb.jpg

Take your wheel off, open the tin of paint, throw it over the area you want painting, put wheel back on. Bish bash bosh! :D

When applying paint don't paint it on normally as it leaves strokes and looks plop! I use a dabbing techinque with the end of the brush for an original look

thanks jase, gunna give it a go in the next few days will post up how it goes !

I want to do mine too but unsure what colour. My car is a zenith grey ibiza fr.

Recently done the 312 upgrade so fronts are the skoda green. Do I do the rears in a green? or just do them all black/silver. Don't want red.

What is the closest hammerite green i can buy easily/off shelf close to standard green colour?

Cheers

Smooth green I've heard

They don't make the smooth green anymore
